Don't Panic

A lot of people sending us this and commenting about it (click for a larger version):

When pictures are taken of vehicles speeding or going through red lights, the plate photos go to the company. All "M" and "MP" are automatically flagged and (as we understand it) sent to the Department for adjudication - meaning they are tossed in the garbage. This AdMin Fax message is supposed to be applied to coverts and exempt vehicles that don't carry the "M" or "MP" plates. This is per a highly placed contact who graces us with Department insight now and again.

If you happen to get tagged while driving a marked vehicle, we'd like to hear about it, but it hasn't happened locally that we've ever been informed of. Some people got tagged in suburban locations with marked vehicles, but were cleared when they proved they were on department business.

so if three different shifts of officer use the same squad and each receive a red light camera ticket the vehicle is boot eligible?

Its in the old redflex contract that seems to be hidden offline now.

A civilian review each photo and put All municipal picks/violations on side.

But exempts and clouted at HQ don't read or even think! Buses,Ambulances,Sheriff, FEDS postal carriers and Police cars all treated the same.

COME oN SPECIAL ED !!! You seem hazy and out of it when you speak Do your job or you flunkies will make you look like a MORON.

Worry less about BUMP STOCKS and video cameras in the districts.

Now this comes from a Merit LIE-TENANT who loves to see his name up every day on the Administrative message board. Its ironic that he is somehow now in charge of department vehicles. I recall an incident where young ROY was a hard charging tact guy in 011 and while driving down an alley in 011, decides that he can just drive over a discarded mattress and nothing will happen. So young Roy drives over it and it gets wedged under the Bubble Chevy Caprice (not Bubblehead), and he keeps driving. At Kedzie and Van Buren the mattress catches on fire from the catalytic converter heat. Young Roy and the other tac guys bail out and are all ok. The flames grew bigger and the black smoke was so high, MR's O'Leary looked down and thought a cow started the city on fire again. Of course the fireman at Kedzie and Franklin had just started a pot of Chili and took quite a while to get there.
When the flames were extinguished the evidence was clearly visible under the frame of what was the last Bubble Chevy Caprice in 011, were the springs and wires of what was the offending mattress who would not get out of Roy boys way.

Photo's of the remnants were posted around 011 for years to come.
Mattresses have the right of way!

Amazing how clout had a way to pick only the brightest to be supervisors.

Roy wasn't merit. He scored high on every test he took. He doesn't have any damn common sense, but wasn't merit. Not that, that means anything with this department. LOL

BTW, he was 3 yr detective, 5 year Sgt and whatever it was when he made Lt. He has no time as the police. Unless you count his time as a dispatcher. LOL

Postal vehicles seem to be exempt from having state plates? Why are they giving an exemption? Immune from red light cameras. The postal carrier on the beat thinks the spot in front of the fireplug is for "Postmans only-Official business" even though available parking spots are extra footsteps away. Remember the postal service is an entity of the federal government so do they can do what they want.

Money via additional sources of revenue is the root of all evil. Rahm may be the Slime Sinister of Chicago and the aldermans are the House of Lords.

I remember when Commander Sodini was stuck in traffic on the Kennedy, got pissed off and pulled out of his lane to go to the one next to him at a high rate of speed. I guess it never occurred to him that there was a reason why no one was already in that lane. That was because they had just poured the concrete for that lane. It was funny to see him stuck in it up to the top of his wheels. Not so much for him though.

How about this for a revenue generation idea? Billions of dollars leave Chicago each year to foreign countries from the people doing those jobs Americans won't do. Lets tax those exported American dollars at a initial low proposed rate like the Illinois Income tax to get the tax authorities in the door. Then incrementally raise it calling it a temporary hike. Then make the temporary permanent. This idea would not only raise revenue but it would also introduce new citizens to the obvious deceptive nature of politicians.

Or could The COPRAh be sifting through the violation notices or watching particular intersections?

I remember a few years back 'hearing' marked squad cars were ticketed by Pompei on Taylor St for parking on a fire hydrant . Actually had one hung on a tac car with an M plate after I bailed to follow a car burglar around 2002 Parked it in a No Parking zone on Lasalle. Written by a traffic aid of all things. Wrote my way out of it but WTF???

Roy was not a merit lieutenant. He studied his ass off and was very high on the list. You must have not done so well on the test.

So that tells you slow down, this is what they want in absence of a 10-1 or assist the police, or police family calling give the taxpayers what they elected the democratic ruin everything machine! Don't forget all the speed zones 1mph over you get a camera ticket, and no more parking "between" the signs on lunch! This department run by the pathetic cowardly so called exempt staff who are only there because the political sponsor (they buy a lot of fundraising tickets) put them there to get the gold braid (Why is this allowed) pension dip!

On that pesky pension thing why again ken hauser and the rest are the mayors valets getting many commanders and sergeants pensions after never taking a promotional exam (I know they take a private exam somewhere bet the keesing bandit can reveal that info), the pay is 1 thing but the pension take away which just helps drain the pension which is not funded properly! Even the pension board put out where the mayor did not contribute proper promised amount (shorted us again but yet has billions for illegals strange how pandering works) this last January yet the union is not after rahm the failed mayor? Why is Kevin so quiet? Did "quiet dean" give him the secret information and codes?

The beauty of automated traffic enforcement is that it catches everyone. Every under posted speed limit. Every short yellow. Every way government games the traffic control devices to generate revenue for itself and its corporate friends begins to create a record of its absurdity as the special people are exempted or throw a fit when they are not.

Let’s just hope this crap blows over. Nothing has happened yet and I really don’t foresee a P.O. being responsible for speeding or running a redlight. Too many reasons for doing both. Attempting to stop a traffic violator, suspicious person ducking into a gangway, a handwaver(maybe an emergency), etc

Roy has no time as the police? He's about to hit 16 years on this job so I guess that makes him a rookie with no experience? He did pass those tests and scored high. Roy knows the job.

What are the fines for a speeding violation?

The fine is $35.00 for a speeding violation six or more miles over the applicable speed limit, but less than 11 miles over such speed limit. The fine is $100.00 if the recorded speed limit is 11 or more miles over the applicable speed limit.

There is no fine for 5 mpg or less over the limit

At least Isakson, or whomever wrote the report for him, knows how to write a near error-free, To-From report that complies with most of the CPD report writing mandates. At the very least, it looks much better than many of the recent, error-riddled issuances from our organization.

Hey kid, here's a flash: Their father was a softball in 013 forty years ago. Roy was a softball in 011 when I knew him. He and his sisters stars only took off after the sister got her lights punched-out by former 014th Dist. Cmdr. Jose (joe, before he turned militant) Velez's son at the lakefront. Velez attempted to get son released and further undermined prosecution until Ralph Price caught wind of Velez's scheme and obtained CR that lead to Velez's resignation. Isaacson's were told to keep their mouths shut, make no further complaint and they would be "taken care of". And taken care of they were. They were each "off the list" the same way Eddie Johnson and Nakia Fenner were off the list. If you don't know how that works you're a bigger mush than they are.

Hey numb nuts, Just cause you have year on the job, doesn't mean you have time as the police. You must be an office whench who got offended.

Yes, he knows the orders. Doesn't mean shit except to work inside. He not quick on his feet, and can't make a spilt second decision. Probably too busy remembering which GO the answer is in.
