Plowing

Rahm is waiting for the warm weather again to melt the snowfall. As numerous readers noted, the snowplows were out in the "quiet" neighborhoods, but driving around in the "blade up" position, which is great for making deep truck tire tracks on the side streets. But it does nothing to actually clear the streets, which melt and re-freeze into a smooth glass.

Does anyone know if hiring at Streets is anemic like CPD? Or if he's "saving money" by not paying the drivers 12 and 14 hour days plowing?

What happened to Charlie Williams?
I heard an interview on the radio
and they had a new head of S&S.
Please don't say he's coming back
to take over CPD.

The first 2 "storms" they did an awful job. The last srorm, I have to say they did a great job here in Garfield Ridge. Plows made at least 5 passes and did curb to curb where there weren't cars. Dropped tons of salt.

Rham just attach a plow to fire trucks and police shitbox squads... the voters want to see the city getting its money worth. I don’t have faith the union would step up to stop you. And all alderscum would back you up too

C’mon SCC .
You know Rahm doesn’t give a shit about the “quieter” neighborhoods.
He disproportionately gives city resources to “the community” at the expense of the “quieter” neighborhoods.
Keep voting for this asshole Sheeple.

So, they drove around in circles, wasting gas, and didn't actually move any snow?

If they did that in our township, the supervisor's life would be made miserable.
Likely a few would just take their own equipment and plow him in with six to ten foot snowbanks.

Then again, the guys doing the work here actually enjoy their jobs and take pride in it.

Same bullshit in rust belt cities.
Asshole mayor has bike lanes clear
but residents complaining some side
streets untouched. One resident had
to purchase 60 pounds of salt out of her
own money. Idiot mayor still thinks he can
lure Amazon in. Residents say same pattern
has existed for decades. Mayor says city is
using 1987 technology and procedures on
radio interview. Hey clown, mail your 5 minute
interview to Jeff Bezos. You could be an inaction
figure just like the "Isuzu Liar."

The City of Chicago has the worst plow drivers anywhere in the nation. Their incompetence was a huge of why I left Chicago. I used to live in Norwood Park. Everyone on my street had a side drive. NO ONE parked their cars on the street. Which meant it wouldn't take too much effort to plow to the curb on at least one side of the street. But they wouldn't do it. They would drive down my street and plow right down the middle usually 3-4 times. Never to the curb. One day an old lady who lives on the block stopped one of them and asked him why. He said that he doesn't get paid to go to the curb. All of this meant that on those days when we had deep snows,if one car was driving westbound and another car was driving eastbound, one of them had to pull into someones driveway to let the other car proceed. Ridiculous. I took pictures and sent them to the Aldermans Office (the Irish guy whose name I forget ) but nothing was ever down. So combine that with the high taxes, the red light cameras, the speed cameras, the lieing midget, the encroaching crime, the pandering to the people that hate us, I decided to retire and move away. Now I live where they plow my street curb to curb even when the snowfall is light, there is virtually no crime, taxes are low and the Mayor doesn't lie everytime he opens his mouth.

The village of skokie does not plow much better, they leave about a half inch of crap on the streets to prevent wearing out the wear edge on the plows.... Umm I do residential snow plowing and if I did that I wouldn't have one customer but it is ok for the village to plow the streets like that and turn them into an icy mess.

That’s odd, there is no salting or curb to curb on my Garfield Ridge block (Merrimac) from Archer to 51st. And the street sucks too.

Stay off the blog mr. shitty chili. You don’t need to stroke yourself on here too.

Blade up but did drop enough salt on my side street in 016. Kinda glad since we have no parkways on our block and the previous dickhead S&S drivers usually plowed it back onto our shoveled sidewalks

“Plowing”
Who else thought of Det. Shaved ?

Buying tons of salt and using hardly any for the past two winter seasons....ooooooh
Cholly you gots t’go.

Cholly finally retires, double dipped in pension and his replacement is another sponsored admin pencil pusher who never drove a truck.
Heck, even Sandy Jackson rode along for a bit of Plowing.
New SS Comm. Tully is a Rahm pick, versed in cooking the books was needed for all those Fleet S&S barns they’re going to be building.
Insider deals already cut for land grabs and long abandoned toxic wasteland was sold to the city for huge money to build those new scattered site facilities. Maybe Cholly was a deedholder of one of the proposed barren sites.
Don’t expect Ferguson to audit anything related to Streets and San. for a while.

Amazon is not coming anywhere near Chicago. Bezos didn't become successful and very, very wealthy by being stupid. Plunk my HQ down in a city that averages 2 murders a day over a year? Watya fukn' nuts?

Wake up Rahm! Bezos doesn't give a rat's ass about bike paths and median planters!

If they did decide on somewhere in Illinois (south of I-80), by the time the infrastructure was ready, there wouldn't be anyone still here to work there. In a couple of years, the only people left in Illinois will be those that are just hanging on till retirement and the willfully unemployed parasites with the outstretched palms demanding ever more "help".

I don't mind at all. I wish they never plowed. It's the only time I get to 4 wheel my ridiculously giant 4 door Jeep with a snorkel and vanity plates that have a catchy police innuendo, like TRR1 or 143A.

It isn't coming to Chicago. I doubt it's going anywhere where weather could hamper production (i.e. workers making it to work).
And you're right, the west corridor would be perfect, but it's not part of any submission.

Could the Finkl campus handle fifty thousand new workers? No.
Bank on someplace sprawling, with lots of room around it for new housing and new retail.

On my block the plow drivers go curb to curb. When they finish that, they hand shovel each and every sidewalk. After the work is done they put a mint on the front stairs of every house. And yes, I live in fantasy land.
