Arrest in Failed Robbery

  • A 16-year-old boy has been charged with trying to rob an off-duty Chicago Police officer at gunpoint, prompting the officer to fire shots earlier this month in the Beverly neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The boy faces one felony count each of attempted robbery while armed with a firearm and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, according to Chicago Police. His identity was not released because of his age.

The officer, a 53-year-old man, was walking at 7:04 p.m. Dec. 1 in the 10100 block of South Bell when the boy approached and demanded money at gunpoint, police said at the time. The officer then fired shots, and the suspect ran off.
Unreported in the media and unconfirmed at this point, is that the offender had a nice little crease on his neck - the kind made by a piece of copper jacketed lead passing close enough to kiss you. Maybe next time.

Kimmie Foxxx is due to drop the charges to misdemeanors in time for the Saturday news cycle.

Judge Hooks is running to the front of the line to get this case if you want to call it that. Likely what ever it is will be dismissed on arrival and Judge Hooks will offer the brat a cup of warm ovaltine so his vitamins are restored

Underage with a firearm?

Refer the punk to the Feds. Then he can do some serious time.

It may save a life or two in the next decade.

Was he charged as an adult? He sure as hell was acting like one by using a firearm in a manner to compell compliance out of someone in order to obtain their goods. Unfortunately, knowing Cook County this will most likely be left to the juvenile justice system. Which is completely in line with the liberal victimhood narrative, that suggests that all offenders should be granted some leeway based upon their circumstances of having grown up a certain way, be it: poor; uneducated; black; fatherless; without morality, etc. in order to better allow them to get away with everything (including racist torture and eventually murder) simply becuse the (It takes a) village,, failed them. Content of their character be damned, they never had a chance so now they get extra shots at ruining others lives.

Full disclosure here. I am not a PO, but stumbled across this blog about a year ago and read it every day. It's a must read for me. I never understood why we don't charge gun crimes under federal statutes. The standard of proof is the same, but the penalty is greater. Seems a no brainer to me. And it frees up our already clogged and corrupt/political justice system in Cook County. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Am I missing something here?

Why are Federal charges never brought up for defaced serial numbers on guns?

First of all he shouldn’t be charged as a juvenile. Deadly force was used in this incident.
2nd of all how did they find the offender? Hospital?

Uh... how many other Firearm Laws did this little scamp violate, two that I can think of right away: No FOID Card and a Minor in possession of a Handgun. So where's THOSE charges, little Kimmy?

Yeah, right .... (((( crickets )))).

Anywho, odds are the kid will skate with probation and a stern talking to by the judge.

an aside: The little miscreant's family will spin some bullshit story that he 'needed money for a textbook in his Advanced Physics Class'.

Haven't you ever heard of "your mileage may vary?"

Up close shooting situations are dynamic and
can develop/decay in the blink of an eye.

Just be glad the Copper is ok.

The media has their agenda. They want to sell newspapers or watch the weather for the next big snowstorm...that never happens. (If cops were as accurate as weather bureau.)

The poor young man, etc., unless it's a reporter who is at a donut store at 2:30am.

Foxx or people of that ilk (judges, prosecutors, etc) have their agenda.
Sadly, people were once arrested, paid fines, locked up, had stiff fines, etc. You never did it again. "Tough love" as my mother called it.

Nowadays, we have an "enlighted" society, where you are best at home.

NOT ILLINOIS. NOT LAW.

If it goes to juvy court the judge(rm#110) is going to make him write a 3 page essay about "what was going on through your mind when you decided to do the things you did"........at least that's the punishment she imposed on the Armed Robbery offender last time I attended that room.(at least I got payed O.T. victim had to show up 3 different times and cancel work, what a waste of time for victim.)

I've no pity for thieves. Having been the victim (dictionary definition) of thieves once, I'll reserve my pity for crime victims. Give this Officer a bit more range time so he can center punch the next one.

The surrounding counties, especially Dupage, know how to take care of their juvenile offender problem. This catch and release is unique only to Cook County. I Wonder why?

It's a sorry affair, criminals are not being prosecuted any more for their crimes and the north side with these bands of youthful robbers is way out of control. I've moved from the dangerous north side to the South side. I'm single, M/2 and rented a small house in the 8th dist. just east of Cicero between 63rd and 59th. Majority are working Mexicans and there families. I've never had neighbors like these people. When they learned I was a CPD Officer, they welcomed me. My neighbors, when I go on furlough watch my residents. I've been invited to family party's and the food is out of this world. I checked the stats and in this pocket not much of anything going on. A 8th dist copper was trying to get me to go to the far west end of the district. The day I was looking around for an apartment, I saw four vehicles on blocks with all four of there tires missing. That made my decision on where I'm living presently. We have to live in the City, my advise, find a community with working people that's family oriented. It makes for stability and peace of mind.

Being that he is a minor, and not eligible for an FOID card, at least not without a parent or legal guardian to act as a sponsor, they can't really charge him with the FOID charge. I guess they could charge him, since he chose to possess a gun, and should have made sure to abide by all the pertinent laws, but this county never would.
