Taxi! Taxi!

Evidently, the Department has chosen the new sticker layout:

We guess that's the least hideous of the bunch. Anyone have the full layout?

UPDATE: Here's a wide shot:

Is this car fully equipped with a steering wheel that has been picked away by some fidgety officer, rotten food under the passenger seat, and a cup holder utilized as a cigar ash tray? What about a gummy foreign substance in pdt mount jacks?

Why is there still a bullheaded insistence
on Police Cars being painted in a "high
visibility" color scheme?

Since The Police are hated and reviled by
everybody and the mere presence of Police
sets people off, why not go to a matte
Taupe Gray color for reduced visibility?

Slick-tops with low visibility emergency lighting.

As it is, these aren't necessarily the
best of times for Policemen to be all
that noticeable.

Because after all, it's The Police who are the problem.

Right?

OT: Heard that a P.O. filed a lawsuit regarding being ordered to wear the body cam and taser. Gist of it is:

-the fact that u have to wear an electronic device right over your main organs for 9 hours a day 5 days a week could cause some damage and there isn’t enough research to say that it doesn’t at this point.
-the extra weight of the taser and cam along with all the other equipment is making their back is hurt.
-with other new equipment like the asp, officers were grandfathered in and have a choice to choose to use the new equipment and should have the choice to choose not to wear the camera.
-it should’ve been bargained for in our contract and not imposed on us without any input from members.

Those were the main points but I think there were a few more.

After all, we know that the dead still vote in Chicago.
Ugly checkerboard design coupled with a very ‘dated ‘ Chicago Police star.

As for the the star, it's nice to see old is new again. However, it should be in the front of the car where it will be seen. People look at the front of a car and the eyes travel back to the rear of the car. Having the large star to the rear would actually detract from the emergency equipment. If the star was in the front, people would see the star and then the eyes would travel to the lights.
That one distraction can cause a accident. Looks like no professionals were consulted. Nice try.

I'm not city property if you want to put them in cars that's fine. I should have a choice and be compensated for it as well. Thise using the magnet holder, who knows what that does to your body.

Then again, since you guys and gals pretty much aren't allowed to arrest anyone any more, using Squad Cars as Taxis to give people (and folk) rides for cash, would be an ingenious way to close Department Budget Shortfalls. (rotfl)

And if a call came in while someone's in the back seat you could charge them an extra $20--$50 Dollar Entertainment Fee depending on the type of call :-)

Back then, everything was padded. Everything had a kick-back. The current contract call for a "standard" all white car, which does not cost extra. The cost is just about what the rest of the state pays, I think the union was looking into the costs and that kept them fairly honest. There is no extra charge.
Ford does charge extra for 2 tone or custom colors. By the way, many of the 2 tine squad cars out there in the burbs are actually decals. The cars are "wrapped" which saved a boatload of money for them.
As usual, the department did not ask anyone with experience in this matter to help them.

Off topic but of concern to some retired cop out there.

The Aetna material which is sent out is NOT FOP plan specific, so if you are confused by any of this, basically, disregard the confusing portions.

Spoke with both pharmaceutical and medical representatives and the plan , for all practical purposes is identical to the 2017 plan. The only unknowns were some specific mail order drug costs due to that information not being current.

An example of one of my concerns was that the formulary plan said two of my meds were not available through mail order any longer. The rep I talked with went to FOP specific information and confirmed that they were still available by mail order but that prices COULD be different as a result of the supplier cost to the pharmacy being raised.

Just an FYI based on my research.

Stay fetal and safe.

Yep, comes fully equipped. Also includes drain holes in the floorboards so you don't have to worry about spilled drinks, bodily fluid leakage, or snow/slush on your boots. As an added bonus, the drain holes act as a backup speedometer for when the dash goes on the fritz.

What's the point? After a few years of constant abuse the outside body will be rusting and the decals will be peeling off.

Of course, when that happens you will be told to take it into the area and will be swiftly told that " that's a warranty" problem. So the car will be taken to the closest dealership which I guarantee will be in some far away suburb because no dealer within the city limits still puts up with the department's "fix now, we pay later" deal.

There is some validity to the health aspect of this. We are bombarded with additional electromagnetic radiation from radios that are in close proximity to our head, abdomen, and pelvis. Additional exposure comes from the PDTs and computers in the station. Now add another source of exposure from the body cameras. It would be interesting to see some numbers regarding radiation dosage per year and its cumulative effects. The duty belt and vest with all the extra weight is detrimental to your posture, pelvic muscles, and spine. That was confirmed by several chiropractors I've seen already. They even recommended removing all the equipment for at least 15 min several times throughout the tour to relieve the pressure on the back. Not that the city gives a fuck about any of this - they don't even cover the free 20 chiro adjustments/yr anymore.

https://ambulancevisibilityblog.wordpress.com/2012/04/27/the-difference-between-battenburg-high-visibility-markings-and-sillitoe-chequers-on-police-fire-ambulance-vehicles/

Which states in part:
Sillitoe is not easily visualised over longer distances as the squares tend to merge and become less obvious. Agencies located around the world are now removing the Sillitoe scheme and replacing it with solid panels or wide striping in fluorescent colours.

This new design is a Sillitoe scheme, BTW. Day late, dollar short, that's us!

11/08/2017 03:37:00 PM

A lot of people ( those never involved in a civil lawsuit before) are always crying , "sue", "sue". They have no idea what they are getting into when they sue someone, especially a very big someone like the City of Chicago. It takes money and a lot of it to do this, unless you find a lawyer who will take it on contingency and even then you will have to pony up with the expenses upfront, at least 10 grand. And, if you lose, the city will send you a bill for their expenses and that will cost you at least 15-20 grand. It is not an easy thing to do unless you are in a protected class and you claim discrimination, then things become very much easier. Talk is cheap, suing is not. And, lets not forget all of the time you will be spending at depositions, in court, at hearings, gathering evidence and convincing other cops to testify for you ( also not easy because I can promise you the department will try to intimidate them also). Good luck

The design of the graphics makes the car appear to be lop sided. There is no balance to the design. The star size is out of proportion as to where it is placed. A star of that size would work on the front door. Also that star was never representative of the past or present stars carried by sworn members. It is kind of simplified version. Other law enforcement agencies that display their stars/badges are representative of the actual identification. Hope CPD comes up with something better than this. When will they jazzing up the CFD insignia?

Those '94 to '96 "Rocket Chevy"

Detuned Corvette engines with iron heads
and big 4 wheel disc brakes.

Go & Whoa.

It was kind of ironic to be chasing
down buses with an honest to God rocket.

Those things were FAST!

"Lincoln 7XX?"
"7XX go..."
"Bus Alarm... Standing southbound,
111-Hundred on Michigan, Bus #XXXX
no further information."
"Nobody up in 005 for that job squad?
we're just leaving the Kraft Building now."
"Sorry... It's all yours.'

"WTF? Hope the driver isn't getting
boot-fucked (ass-kicked) by the locals."

Oh well... After midnight and s/b on the
Ryan = 130+ and steady as a rock.

...Of course the bus was gone when we got there
and the dispatcher was like, "whatever."

There was chatter in 91c-land that a
CHP Officer laid his ears back and
clocked an indicated 158 MPH reeling
in a speeder.

(CHP was into all kinds of fun stuff
like special ordering Police Pursuit
Z-28 Camaros with 403 Pontiac engines)

The exempts at the time said there was no
way in hell those cars were going to be
CPD fleet because they were MUCHO faster
than the '87 to'90 Box Chevys and the
'91 and '92 Bubble Chevys.

The '93s were WAY down on power and
mud slow because Fleet ordered them
with 305 V8s

The '94 to '96 model years were the 255 V8
taxi package...

Truly pathetic, nothing surprises me anymore from Research and Development , the fucking brainiacs who never have had 1 day street experience and make us working coppers live's miserable. Just like their Fucking Body worn cameras, they can shove them up their ass and take pictures of their colon! WORST THING TO EVER TO DEMORALIZE WORKING POLICE OFFICERS IN ALL OF HISTORY, LIKE WE ARE FUCKING ROBOTS!!!!
Fuck this department administration and their brown nosing pen holding whores who work for them making our lives miserable.
I apologize , I'm keeping is real, but they don't want to accept the truth & look in the mirror @ their ugly souls.
