Interesting Idea

Not much good coming out of Baltimore lately - except this maybe:
  • Baltimore will consider offering a property tax break to local police and firefighters.

The Baltimore Sun reported Monday that officials believe the relief would entice more emergency responders to live in the city. It would also help the city financially while fostering more trust between safety officials and the public.

The tax break would be $2,500 for a public safety employee who owns a home in the city. It would include sheriff's deputies as well as police and firefighters.
It might - MIGHT - expand the pool of applicants up from the miserable showings of the past ten or fifteen years. It would have to be doubled though.

Baltimore still plans to pillory - - - oh, sorry, I meant conduct a public hearing into misconduct on the part of the now-cleared police officers.

Tax break? You'd have to give me a free house and zero real estate taxes before I'd CONSIDER taking a police job there.

Just wait until the taxes are higher than the net worth of the home.

Speaking of Maryland, did you see where the city council of College Park voted to allow illegals (sorry, undocumented residents) to vote in their local elections?
They then discovered that a simple majority vote was not legal and had to rescind the order until they figure out plan B
10 other Maryland towns already allow voting by illegals
Rahm is interested I'm sure

On a side note I sold my home I Beverley and it was not police or fire who bought the home. So the notion of selling your ho.e in Mr Greenwood or Beverley or anywhere else in the city and nobody wanting to buy it who is not a city worker is utter nonsense.

So Fire and Police can then vote to raise taxes on their neighbors, with out having to pay themselves? Oh well, stay fetal and do the minimum required, that's what those left paying your wages and benefits deserve.

Some other good news coming out of Baltimore.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/12/us/freddie-gray-baltimore-police-federal-charges.html?_r=0

Charges have been dropped against Baltimore police in the death of street drug dealer Freddy Gray.

The BlackLiesMatter - fake news MSM narrative has collapsed. It's on to the next racist hate crime hoax. Just follow the Rev (Not!) Sharpton around, follow the lies of the Huffington Post, CNN, MSNBC (Though MSNBC had to fire Sharpton).

Maybe the next BlackLiesMatter mob cause will be the police shooting of some thug in St. Louis - BlackLiesMatter mobs were attacking the St. Louis Mayor's home (Media covered up this story).

Please support blogs like SecondCityCop and the alternative Conservative media. Fox News can't be trusted as the Murdoch children are purging all Trump supporters.

We live in an occupied country folks. Stay strong, but be careful.

Is a tax break supposed to cushion the fall when they're thrown under the bus? The tax break is not worth the muzzle it comes with.

Tax break or not, including a free house/tax, an officer wouldn't be safe, nor his/her family, living among the evil monsters.
I can't imagine sending my child to schools run by gang bangers or family always in harms way. No way, Jose.

Tax break for buying in the depressed crime infested areas only or will it include the few plush lawn, tree lined fringe areas?
Have the jobless unwashed antifa and feral mutts been eating up all the City revenue handouts and the entitlement pantry is near empty?
If FR's are allowed to live outside the border, $2500 would not be enough (for me) to move back.
Can't trust the Democrat.

The funniest part of this is that democrats are starting to admit that you have to CUT taxes in order to stop hemorrhaging people from an area being destroyed by over taxation of some and under taxation of others - IE The Progressive Tax Code.

Funny it is that they STILL have to try to only offer their solution to their own special chosen feew while refusing to realize that the LAW (which taxation is) has to apply to EVERYONE just the same or it WILL NOT WORK. You know - EQUALITY, it actually does have to be part of the Rule of Law or Epic Failure will inevitably result.

Another stupid idea. Baltimore stopped being a livable city in about the mid 1980's. There was a migration of working people leaving for the suburbs and that shit hole has been going downward since. It was chronicled in the book Homicide: Life on the Street. Why would anyone live in a shit hole for a few dollars more you could live in a nice community 20 miles awa? I mean really. Another stupid idea from stupid leadership.

They should give you CPD, CFD and city employees a break to move into Englewood and mentor the community with your work ethic and your personal responsibility to lead the way for the community. Any takers? I would rather see more CPD living in the burbs. That is what you should all be pushing for. No residency requirements rather freedom to choose where you live. It seems it would increase morale and with it performance in my opinion.

Intelligent people leave when something isn't healthy for them.
Jobs.
Relationships.
Towns.
States.
Visiting the blog is simply touching base. You can miss being CPD, but you can be smart enough to physically remove yourself from the cesspool.
Congratulations to the original poster; getting out was a smart move.

Chicago keeps reincarnating "Cop Next Door" to suck in
the gullible by appealing to their "civic duty to give
back to the community."

Fukdat...

"The Community" gains WAY disproportionately compared
to it's overall investure, which by the way is the far
side of absolute dick-all.

Truth be told...

People and folks think that because you're a Policeman,
somehow you forfeit the right to safety, peace and quiet.

Officer Next Door =
The same hate crazed m/fers watching you
leave for work are watching you come home as well.

Or somebody beating on your door to roust you
and come deal with their self inflicted crisis
of the moment involving affection for barter/trade
or some similar such foolishness...

Damn right some bozo-visor will honor their
dissatisfaction with a C/R initiation...

Not worth the potential grief and aggravation.

Hopefully the Coppers in Murdermore have pride
enough to tell the city to GTFOH...

The residency stipend isn't anything new. It was first introduced at contract negotiations by the Donahue crew and the by Shields. Surprise, surprise, It was quickly refused by the City. An arbitrator told FOP they'd never get it in arbitration and would have to negotiate it if they really wanted it.

The reality here is that if any of you think your going to get even $2500, let alone $5000, for nothing you are in dreamland. A 3% raise nowadays is a sizable raise. A copper making 75,000 would get 2250 at that rate. Do you really think the City is going to throw another 2500 on top of that?

The key to the Baltimore thing is that there isn't residency. The $2500 is to entice Officers to move into the City.

You have to be realistic at contract negotiations. Demand the moon, but know what reality is and what you're willing to settle for or what an arbitrator will actually give you.
