Toni Booed at Billiken

We heard from numerous people about this. We held off for a day, wondering if the lame-stream media might report it. They didn't - just this off-the-wall blog:
  • DAMN! Cook County Board of Commissioners President Toni Preckwinkle was booed at this years Bud Billiken Parade. As she passed by, THOUSANDS chanted and called her "QUEEN SUGAR" in reference to the "Sugar/Sweetened Tax" that's actually about to cause over 837,000 people in Illinois to lose their FOOD STAMP, SNAP, LINK benefits.
And that's not the only thing:
  • Thousands of Black people booed Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. They poured out soda and sugary drinks as she passed by during the parade.
Looks like Toni (and hopefully, the entire county Machine) have big problems on the horizon.

Whooooo!

Talk about insult on top of injury!

Sir/Ma'am Taxwinkle stumbled and
trod a teat with her sugary drink tax
and her constituents booed the fuck out
of her and poured out perfectly good pop?

Sir/Ma'am's a nasty and vindictive sort.

Is she going to go in on her constituents
or is she going to take it out on the
unfavored demographics?

Funny if she slaps Dart upside his head
and orders him to start refilling
Cook County Jail in retaliation.

Well... maybe not.

Policemen, at least the smart ones,
are now professional witnesses and expert
after-the-fact documentarians.

Great accuracy in calling out the local news media. Nothing more than a bunch of clueless cheerleaders.

For such a large city, we have such a backwards, hick-town-like, news media.

But don't tell them that. They think they are so "with it" and hip.

Colonel Jacob Arvey, long time alderman and committeeman of the 24th Ward, which was capable of delivering vote totals in excess of the total number of registered voters in his ward for the Democrats, pulled the Machine out of the doldrums by dumping an unpopular mayor (Kelly) and slating cleaner candidates for mayor (Kennelly) and governor (Stevenson).

It cannot happen again with Berrios and Madigan at the helm. Preckwinkle/Bullwinkle is tight with shady Joe.

I e-mailed President Trump and requested that he direct the Agriculture Department to remove sugary drinks from the list of tax exempt products from the SNAP program.
The tax is supposed to be good for of the public after all and therefore it should apply to the SNAP program.

Pols know voters have short memories and will never bite the hand that feeds them, especially in the City of Chicago, County of Cook, State of Illinois.

Wait for the pols to tax food with sugar/sweetener as an ingredient.

Been reading the blog about no sales tax on food in Indiana if I'm not mistaken. Headed out over the weekend with the fam to cabelas, bought a lot of ammo I would've normally bought in Illinois, filled up with gas at pilot (anyone know of a better, cheaper station?) jam packed with cars, and went grocery shopping at Walmart. 20 minute drive early morning.. Roads wide open. Felt good. I can get used to this. Forever. Fuck democrats

And lets not forget the usual shots fired, little lost kids, weed and drinkin, suckin and fuckin that took place at Washington park afterwards. The usual bullshit. Sigh.....just another day in da hood.

Was at the Belmont Aldi on Monday. Middle-aged white woman w/Kate Spade handbag and cute Lucy jogging suit buys four large pop bottles with her Link card. I see her getting into her late-model sedan next two my car in parking lot. Upscale shopping bags in her trunk, and I'm wondering "food stamps, really??". Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person at Aldi buying groceries with my own money.

We've socially-engineered ourselves into a dynamic where "work" has lost it's personal importance, and where "unemployed" can be as self-righteous as those who pay tax to support that "no income" lifestyle.

Some residents of Cook County's south suburbs are buying sweetened beverages at stores in Will County to avoid paying Cook's penny-an-ounce soda tax.

Aug 23, 2017
Ted Slowik Daily Southtown

I talked with shoppers Tuesday morning outside Target at 7300 W. 191st St. in the Will County portion of Tinley Park.

"I don't mind paying taxes," said Bill Watson, 72, of Oak Forest. "I don't like getting cheated."

People are definitely unhappy about the soda tax. Those who can are going out of their way to avoid paying it.

It was easy to spot customers who were shopping in Will County to avoid Cook County taxes. For one thing, they all looked like smart people, with bright eyes and a purposeful spring in their steps.

Then there was the telltale clue that they exited the store with carts containing nothing but sweetened beverages.

I approached Watson because his cart contained six 12-packs of 16-ounce bottles of Lipton iced tea. I asked how much he saved by avoiding the Cook County tax. He pulled out his phone and used the calculator to do the math.

If he bought the same items in Cook County, he would have paid an additional $11.52 in tax, he said.
