Money Wasted?

Regarding that abysmal clearance rate on CTA property, a reader had a good question:
  • Millions of dollars on cameras covering almost every inch of trains, buses, platforms and stations - and 90% of crime goes unsolved? Were taxpayers sold a bill of goods?
Yeah, pretty much. But some connected companies got paid. And they paid politicians. Who voted for more money to be spent. And the Circle of Corruption continues.

It wasn't that long ago that the trains used to have a worker walking car to car. Now it's cameras no one watches. CTA can't even control the stations properly. There was a crazy lady at Washington/Wells this morning sitting in the middle of the damn stairs messing with her phone. The crowd struggling to get past and not a worker in sight.

With modern HD cameras and computer searchable databases, how are these guys not being caught? You've got their picture at the station entrance and then again on the bus or train. Can't those pictures be matched up against the driver's license/state id database?

Why do you think hoodies are so popular?

Up, over the head, and shielding the face where the cameras are.
Do the deed, get away.
Find a spot without cameras, hoodie goes in the backpack with the loot.

Watching CTA video is like playing "Where's Waldo" it's impossible to locate a uniformed officer. Tact is easy to spot, just look for the plain clothes guy writing an ANOV on State street to a homeless panhandler.

The cameras were coming, regardless of the clearance rates for CTA crimes. It's a Homeland Security thing, and even SCC would know that.
The CTA doesn't clear up crimes that occur against its riders while on CTA property. That would be the job of the CPD, in Mass Transit unit and of course, all you folks who work Special.

Maybe the CTA needs to go back to getting its own police agency. It would probably work out better for them than the current system they have in place now.

Here is a prime example of more time and money wasted why in this environment would you as a Chicago police officer put yourself out in the media like this?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-chicago-police-video-release-met-20170731-story.html

Police video highlights blurred line between excessive force, typical policing in high-crime areas

Young police officers come on use your head as more than a hat rack, why bother as a matter fact after dealing with this individual from the way things look I would hope you file a report and possible communicable disease is make sure you get tested for hepatitis and HIV I would've set the individual to the hospital if you wanted to go the insanity of getting involved just jeopardizes you and your career! Even though you try to do the right thing you will be scrutinized by the media are Chicago dishonest media 24 hours a day seven days a week stay fetal you can keep your job keep your family most of all keep your freedom and your sanity!

Hey media if you want to skyrocket your newspaper sales just run a week long story regarding the crime on the REDLINE from Chinatown to 55th st, it's staggering especially the robberies and Mass Transit officers are never anywhere to be found from 3pm-11pm when many of those crimes take place. CTA Officers do not respond to crime at the El Stations just listen to the dispatchers when they give out the jobs, um no mass transit is not available. The Red Line is a huge target for criminals. Signed, Chicago's Finest.

The CTA security system does take excellent photos of suspects, but they won't release to the media because nearly 95% of the offenders are black or Hispanic. It would be "too racially sensitive" to the PC liberals. The losers: the innocent citizen trying to get to work. Bring back the "decoys" at mass transit.

IMO- The City/CTA sold a Homeland Security financed Mandate (cameras covering 90% of CTA property) as a Panacea of crime reducing tools for Police. In all actuality, the footage is good enough for release to the News outlets.

I dont know if the technology exists that Facial Recognition would require. Guess its time that a full face scan replaces the existing mug shots.

I guess when you look at the amount of passengers that use the CTA/Metra daily and the amount of reported crime its pretty safe(?). I guess those (un-massaged by City Hall & CPD)numbers will never see the light of day.

Money spent on perception.

Many, not all CTA cameras are not upgraded, they are installed and positioned (for some unk reason) in odd locations giving perhaps a 50-50 chance of capturing a identifiable image. And the regular pickpockets thieves know this because their public defender always asks for video images that almost always never exist.
They may have put in thousands of hi-def cameras but there is zero upkeep, location assessments and management of the entire video system, to say there's 24 hr. monitoring is a no brainier.
The video image retrievals are generally quick if you have the locations and time frames.
I never had a problem with that team of guys whatsoever.

Secondly, there are very few victims that want to do anything more than report the crime so they can at least get a replacement phone or for a medical insurance claim.
Many targets are tourists, tolerant snowflakes, stink eye thug vs. thug.
Anyone have a count on how many CTA incidents are reported to 3-1-1, I'd guess 90%.
CTA is not worried about crime on the trains or buses, ridership will not decrease, until Voters get to have a say.

I have to wonder and someone should know by now if there's video of the Red Line Loaded AK-47 (it's just property) parolee ?

So a group trends go, getting away with stealing on the CTA is going to continue...it a property crime and KimPhoxxx has to allocate her resources elsewhere.
CTA isn't about to get its act together unless Rahm says so, they currently are on the KimPhoxxx Restorative Justice A-Train too.

BTW, Granny Clampett's Oakland PD / BART System refuses to release the recent wilding feral youth (40-60 savages) doing the train robberies...to "avoid stereotyping".

OT: Texas Resident Defends Herself. Neighbor Cathy Hanks Explains The Law of Texas!

A 60-year-old Texas woman in Harris County, Texas shot and killed an intruder during a home invasion on Monday, 31 July 2017, according to officials.

The woman, who was not identified, grabbed her pistol and confronted the two armed men as they entered her home through a garage door, according to KHOU Television News.

According to police, the woman fired several shots and struck at least one of the men, who collapsed and died in her yard.

“It’s the state of Texas, if you’re going to go into someone’s home, you’re going to get shot,” Cathy Hanks, a neighbor, told a KHOU TV News Crew. “That’s really how we are. That’s just Texas.”

Officers found a pistol next to the dead man’s body. The other suspect, a man in his 20s, fled the scene.

The woman was not injured. According to police, she did not know the intruders.

Dow hits record high, inches closer to 22,000

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/01/wall-street-set-to-open-higher-on-earnings-momentum.html

How many millions are we with "our" pension money making? We must be rolling in extra money with the great investment advisors we have right kenny hauser, and Mike Lappe? Now with Mike Shields hopefully winning a place where he belongs back on pension board (we know your all scared he may be loud and expose some tricky shit), How is our money doing? Did rahm make the required contributions? Have you been looking into ending the gold braid bill from the pension hogs? How about you were looking into all the made up "security specialist" positions given out? You know they get commanders and sergeants pensions while being nothing more than connected valets qualified to hold clothes and run red lights you even wonder patrolman Brian Thompson quickly retired from rahms detail grabbing that commanders pension?

Kevin Graham you came in like the lion but now your quiet like the mouse! The stress is obviously overwhelming, recently was at fop offices tell you what a diet for many would be the thing to do, looked like a "weight gainers" meeting! Not saying to flame but hopefully to motivate,if you want to lead you must be in condition and keep your health!

Mass transit barley has 100 officers 4 all 3 watches. Thats about 4 (2) man teams per watch to cover 6 lines and 6 day off groups. And special has so many special attentions they have to man ,with most dealing with the animals on the south side, that most of the lines and almost all the buses have no police coverage. And the cta main goal now is to kick off all the homeless at Ohare so 1 of the many crazies that ride the line can harass the money paying customers that fly in and out of Ohare. Sure that idea came from 9.5...

surprise at the beginning of season 8. OF blue bloods

Jamie and Eddie have only been officers of the NYPD so far, but it sounds like they'll be getting promoted to detective rank in Season 8. A promotion makes sense, considering how Jamie was complimented for following his instincts like a detective in "The Thin Blue Line," which led to the capture of a killer. I have to wonder if things will get complicated all over again with Jamie and Eddie with promotion to detective, so it should be pretty interesting.

The call back unit has double of what work in two districts. Bull shit light duty babies that are afraid of the street, from Lt' down. Call 311 and get a total attitude !
There are POW' in call back in the back of the medical district that have their own parking spaces for being POW of the month after some being there for 5 years or more. Ask around what beef some of them are accused of and the evidence on them. Some should of been canned years ago, with major beef after beef. Where there' smoke there is fire. Juice rules !

that has been a useless unit long before O'Neil had anything to say about it, When their office was on Illinois Street you could find the entire tact team at Blackie's or at a private club up north. One quick arrest and then to the club. The same for the uniform guys. useless with no decent supervision. I doubt that anyone worked more then a few hours each day. 60 Mins videotaping squads at Midway today for some reason. They were asking about our lights being red and blue and why. Anyone know why?
All taxi way lights on the air field are blue. So they add red lights to the police vehicles that work the airports.

so that is why state police cars have the blue and redlights!

look at money spent on the no gun zone signs on CTA property
good way to let chicago thugs know it will be easy pickings
5:56 AM you are right , FOP should publish a list of housecats at 35thST , Homan Square , Police Academy , every District has patrolman , sergeants that do zero
check gps of sergeants if you want a good laugh
look at officers assigned to a district and officers assigned to beat cars

Working the back office in Mass Trans I see the same copper coming in ratting out his partners, he even comes in on his day off or hours prior to work, and yet he's the biggest Medical Abuser on the Dept. I've seen him walk out out of Commanders office with tissues, about his dieing father, I've been in unit long time, his father has been dieing last two decades!!

Why, that is almost a good as Live PD coming to ChicagoLand but staying away from Cook county (where all the murdering is happening) and instead go to Lake County.

Hey are you CPD coppers up next? Gonna go LIVE for the whole nation to Ride Along?

The stock market hits an all time high today. This is what happens when the business community has confidence in a president who is a businessman, not a community organizer.

It's almost all black and brown males committing crime on mass transit. even if they distrusted these photos to the media, the media wouldn't report it. They like going with the "generic" reporting and leaving race out of it.

Lots of sex crimes on mass transit the public has no clue about. They should post these photos of all suspects who are pictured master bating, feeling and touching female passengers, etc all over the transit system.

Why not spend the money on increasing the number of officers at Voluntary Special Employment CTA, or increase the number of officers assigned to the unit that works CTA? Wouldn't that make sense?

Mass Transit should've never become a biddable unit, all it did was allow all the dogs in districts to bid there and do less than they did before. Should be like all the other units so it gets people that actually want to work. That unit is also extremely short handed, with skeleton crews working most days. The CTA special should all be fixed posts in the worst areas on the line, which would then allow the personnel they do have to work in covert capacity and actually grab some of the mutts. It's not rocket science it just requires someone to actually care about the system and the people who use it daily. This dept could care less about Mass Transit, which is amazing considering it's such a target rich environment for terrorism.
