God Forbid More Police!

  • The Town Hall (19th) Police District, which serves most of North Center and Lincoln Square, has 50 more officers than it did a year ago and yet residents still feel vulnerable, particularly in the wake of a recent spate of crimes — muggings, businesses being robbed and a sexual assault. "Long-time neighbors, they've told me this is different than anything they've seen before," said North Center resident Michael Menelli.

The perception that crime is becoming increasingly violent in the neighborhood prompted Menelli to organize a public forum, held last Friday night at Welles Park.
Then aldercreature "I'm running for Social Justice Governor" chimes in:
  • The sense that more crime is spilling over into previously insulated neighborhoods — something Pawar said he hears from several of his North Side peers on City Council — can be directly linked to the decimation of social services, he said. The agencies that provide job training, counseling, mental health services and violence prevention programs have been gutted, Pawar said. "Once the social safety net crumbles, you see more strong-arm robberies. It doesn't excuse the fact that it happened, but it's connected," he said.

The solution? Not what people want to hear, the alderman said.

"I would be lying if I just said there is a four-point plan and it's going to take effect" in some set amount of time, Pawar said. The easy answer would be to put a cop on every corner, a suggestion that, even if practical, wouldn't produce the desired effect, he said. "I can't sit back and just say it's a police issue. We could hire 50 percent more police and we wouldn't see a 50 percent reduction in crime," Pawar said.
How about actual prison terms? CrimeinBoystown tracks tens of dozens of crimes committed by parolees and persons out on bail all year.

How about higher rates of Concealed Carriers in the neighborhood?

How about a few democratic politicians losing their jobs over these issues and more?

Residents better wake up and get their Conceal/Carry permits and buy a gun with plenty of ammo. Cops have been handcuffed and won't be able to help citizens in danger.

What the asshole aldercreature is really talking about is increasing taxes and not telling the residents that they will be footing the bill.

It is difficult to explain what is happening in 019 and has been happening there for several years now, without offending and appearing to be a Racist. However, here is the reality, and if what I am saying is not the truth; Prove Me Wrong. 019 has been the heart of the Gay community for more than 40 yrs. And it has been that long that outsiders have come in to prey upon the population. Dahmer came from Milwaukee and returned home with a carry-out lunch from the nightclub that used to be across from the old 023rd Dist. Gacy from the burbs picked up kids in the area. However, the more recent crime comes from the South and West side, via the CTA. The simple reality is that the vast majority of offenders in 019 do not reside in 019, unless it is at the Gay Center on Halsted, which has decided to not cooperate with police, ignoring the fact that it is funded with public money! Peoples and Folks trek in and get off at Belmont, to exploit the population of 019. The Predators know that the Gay population is afraid to acknowledge that they are the victims of Black criminals. It is easy pickings, because with the exception of "I'm With Her" Democrats, absolutely nobody is as politically correct as Gays. The Belmont "L" station is like a giant sphincter muscle, releasing shit on the visitors and residents of 019. So as long as they are willing to continue to deny reality for the sake of not appearing Racist, the mayhem will continue. Gays will continue to be sacrificed on the altar of Political Correctness, and the Police can do absolutely nothing but respond! The restriction against the mere appearance of Racial Profiling, makes Common Sense and experience, OBSOLETE. We cannot call it what it is! Do nothing more, than answer your calls and smile as you serve & survive in this Brave New Socialist Utopia called "Shitcaga"! Baby "G"

The police have been deballed and you have a right to self defense against criminals!

Skokie had an armed vehicular hijacking yesterday at approx 1230 hours. Broad day light. Vehicles involved were spotted and followed, but not pursued. Vehicles involved fled at high speed south on the Edens. They know. Sad sad world. Had the victim had his concealed carry, it would have made for a fine afternoon indeed!

Civilian here.

I live in the neighborhood, have my concealed carry license and carry regularly. All of these meetings are in places where I cannot legally carry.

So I suppose I continue to read about them after the fact.

Stay safe, everyone.

You think it's bad now wait till the Cta red line runs out to 130th st with a couple more ghetto stops on the way there. Makes it very easy for the mutts to get to the north side.

The problem is the States attys office and the squishy judges. The county is broke, and locking these assholes up is 143.00 a day. Preckwinkle doesnt have the money so out they go, to prey on "the community" that has no clue they are the cost of bad county management.

CrimeinBoystown have a lot of political muscle. They should use it to call out all those media people and politicians who are responsible for withholding the true stats as well as the department's assignments of appropriate personnel in their area. We know the problems and solutions but can only cite and complain here on the blog. No one listens to the police.

I laugh whenever one of these goofs says jobs will somehow help the community. Decade after decade this has proven to be baseless. The thugs committing these violent crimes don't want a job. Their chosen profession is robber, rapist or murderer. The only viable solution is to lock them up and keep them in prison away from the law abiding tax payers.

The social service agency, The Center on Halsted, can be directly blamed. Crime has risen ten fold since it opened its doors. They lock the doors on the Police and give refuge to the criminal element that has taken over your neighborhood. Pawar marches with these people and still wants more money for them. Sooner or later one of the tax payers in 019 is gonna get shot. It's coming and they'll blame you.

To put in perspective, 019 has about 200k residents which is the size of Grand Rapids Mi. which is Michigan's second biggest police force. That doesn't include the 2 million a year that come to Cubs games. I''d say they need more police.

A couple of Points. That location is Either Ward 46 or Ward 44. Both of those wards Alldermen are strokes..but it isn't Pawar who is 47th Ward on the Other side of Ashland.

2. Remind me the ILCS for Obstruction? Are you a Cop? As a Peace Officer you have the legal right to Apprehend a Criminal if you On Viewed the Crime and Fuck what The Center on Halsted wants to do.

2 - don't ask/don't tell.
3 - never trust a democrat.
4 - study the work of Paul Kersey in Death Wish.

Heh...

The days of kicking doors in were over a LOOOOOOOONG
time ago... Too many guys walking around with
ruined knees from door booting, fence hopping
and stair running.

You know... That proactive, assertive
"We hunt bad men" Policing that everyone
took for granted would last forever.

Until it didn't.
"Wah! Somebody DO SOMETHING!"

Copper kicks a door = A Copper kicked
in his ass administratively/legally.

Too many peoples and folkses lined up
to take money out of your pockets and
too many m/fers willing to assist them.
