Closed Investigation

  • The Chicago Police Department’s probe concluded that there was no misconduct on the part of Officer Charles Artz or any other officer involved, according to CPD spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi. "The investigation into the funds raised by Sgt. Artz and his team was closed and found no wrongdoing of any kind on the part of the officers involved,” Guglielmi told Chicagoist by email.
So a good deed actually went unpunished, contrary to the old saying.

Funny commanders put the arm on everyone to attend Christmas parties, but I guess that is not a rule violation.

Sorry SCC I cannot agree with the statement that the good deed actually went unpunished.

The Sgt, his team, the supporters and the public were all actually punished by the horrific, disingenuous and calculated accusations.

The Sgt, his team and their supporters should be thanked for their morals and their kind hearts.

The media reported this story as greedy and criminal in nature. They should spend ten times that amount of coverage time now to show the actual
generosity of those officers involved.

Speaking of clearing officers, any word on that copper who was the subject of the latest video where he justifiably struck shit bag? The department was quiet on this one. Exonerated is the only right outcome.

Anyone remember the Target Stores being hacked a while back? You couldn't use your credit cards etc.. do to the fallout! An executive was laterally moved for being lax with security that caused it. Well there was a settlement and the Illinois share of $1.7mil. Will go to the real governors daughter, Lisa. The all knowing attorney general will use the funds to teach Illinois consumers about credit card fraud...
If you have that uneasy feeling that you have just been the victim of a fraud, that comes as part of the cost of citizenship in this never once, great state!

So if I am reading the story correctly the department lets Gugliemi out out a statement before telling the Sergeant that the investigation is closed??? What total bullshit!!! What kind of fucked up leaders do we have running this place??? And what is the finding?? Exonerated, Not Sustained?? It doesn't say.

Just to clarify things a little. I find it very unfortunate that I found out about the investigation being closed when the reporter emailed me asking for a quote. As of this writing I have not been officially made aware of any determination or finding. That's all I say about that. I do want to thank everyone that supported me throughout this investigation. I received literally hundreds of texts, emails, and letters of support I received since the investigation was initiated and I cherish each and every one of them. Thank you and be safe.

Here is how it will go...............
The "investigation" will drag out long enough so AW's wife can pull the pin at 50. Look it up.The others involved will be forced out, but they will have enough time in grade to draw a pension as a Lt.

Another fine job by the I-Team investigators of The Fair & Balanced I-A-D.
Someone, many two or more from The 121 is going to get a big ass promotion for that final determination.
Is it on to the next big case or did everybody get a 6-7-8th Period Furlough (with a take-home car)?

So if I am reading this correctly Gugliemi lied in his original statement about this incident. So what is going to happen to him exactly?? Or is A rule 14 violation only for us unclouted folks??

Rule 2 - Any action or conduct which impedes the Department’s efforts to achieve its policy and goals or brings discredit upon the Department.

Rule 14 - Making a false report, written or oral

Rule 31 - Publicly criticizing the official actions of another Department member, when the result of such criticism can reasonably be foreseen to undermine the effectiveness of the official working relationship of the member within his assigned unit. All such criticism should be made and reported to the Department.

Rule 32 - Engaging in any public statements, interviews, activity, deliberation or discussion pertaining to the Police Department which reasonably can be foreseen to impair the discipline, efficiency, public service, or public confidence in the Department or its personnel by:
(A) false statement, or reckless unsupported accusations

Seems to me a few rules have been violated by a few involved in this investigation.

I was composing a similar response.
When your reputation, which is pretty much all you have as a police officer, is damaged, you HAVE been punished.

Its great that the investigation is closed and the officer is cleared.

But so what??? How many times in recent history have closed exonerated cases been reopened,"reinvestigated" and reversed?.

You are never clear completely.
