26/Cal Shooting

  • A 22-year-old man was shot Monday morning while walking to the Leighton Criminal Courts Building in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 9:30 a.m., he was walking to the courthouse in the 2500 block of South California when someone fired shots from a white van that was driving by, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered six gunshot wounds to the groin area, and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Two off-duty police officers saw the shooting and pursued the shooter, who was taken into custody, police said. Charges were pending.

A weapon was also recovered from the area, police said.

Police initially said the man was entering the courthouse in the 2600 block of South California when he was shot.
Shots from a white van....but police chased it on foot? Weapon recovered....hidden in a garbage can nearby? Sloppy reporting. Amazingly, Special Ed didn't strip anyone.....yet. But everyone who was late to Court can expect to get a day.

That's the second shooting associated with a court appearance recently. Are the gangs keeping tabs on court/bond dates for people they want to eliminate?

(UPDATE: Court Deviation joke added after our comedians lit up the comment section)

UPDATE II: Six shots to the groin of a running man, from a moving vehicle, over Rahm's moon-crater surface streets. Who's doing the shooting? Annie Oakley?

Word is that the shooter was on his way to court. Rumor has it that this person was on bond for as you may have guessed it, a gun charge. Just another example of a violent gang banger who is out on the streets after being caught with an illegal gun absent a lawfully required FOID or a Concealed Carry License.

Another prime example of the ineffective revolving door mass production line of Cook County justice or injustice. Hey judges, the criminals regard you as a paper tigers or pansies. They are bringing their form of justice to your front door.

Can we get some legislation to increase penalties within 1000 feet of a courthouse. Maybe a Safe Passage program for 26 & Cal. Maybe prominently posted signage indicating this is a "Safe Social Justice Zone" with enhanced judicial penalties resulting in mandatory minimum sentencing and fines. Ceasefire can establish a non-violence office in the lobby of the courthouse. B.l.m. can march on the courthouse forming a human chain protecting the judges, public defenders and those who caught a case put on them. Just some real world time tested solutions.

Instead of trying to be like New Yorks, lets try to be like the Brits!

A British woman brutally murdered last summer — allegedly by her ex-boyfriend — had warned police months earlier that he attacked her, but the cops responded by fining her for wasting their time, prosecutors revealed late last week.

Shana Grice’s body turned up last August in her Portslade bedroom, investigators said, adding that the killer slit her throat and apparently set her on fire. She was 19.

Her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Michael Lane, faces murder charges, but denies he killed her.

Grice told police last March that Lane had pulled her hair and grabbed at her phone — accusations he denied, The Sun reported.

What’s more, police said she never disclosed that she’d been in a relationship with Lane. They fined her an undisclosed sum for “having caused wasteful employment of police by making a false report,” prosecutors added.

However, police reportedly learned in July that Lane stole a key to her home and let himself in. They responded by ordering him to stay away from Grice, the BBC reported.

The next month, the woman was dead.

“having caused wasteful employment of police by making a false report,”

We can fund our pension for the next 100 years if we fined all the west and south side mutts.

I got a kick out of 'pursued'. Notice how the effort was to make sure not say he GOT CAUGHT much less that cops are the ones who caught him? The reporting was for the benefit of the PEOPLE who shot him and the PEOPLE he was accused of harming, sending the message the STREET JUSTICE prevailed where the justice system fails. Groin Area was code for - he has been repaid. But there is another angle coming down the pike besides this obvious picture.

There is a new ghetto lottery game, in case ya hadn't heard. When it is known that a particular individual is gonna go down, and hard, like say for half a life or more, they just gotta get that money! When you coppers are transporting, you know when you have them in your custody, attacks upon them while in your care mean the city is on the hook for any of the dundo nuffins that get hurt. Is the puzzle coming into focus? THeir own folks will make attempt to take them out - just so the city gotta PAY!

The past is linear and explainable when looking back. The future is non-linear and open-ended (especially when looking at the behavior of highly adaptive networked gangs). Given a terrain-based model and the underlying false assumption that crime doesn't move or adapt in response to Hot Spot policing and Micro-deterrence strategies (Abt, Papachristos, et al), it will be another monstrous failure. The idea of 'Cops on Dots' might work if the police were empowered to arrest and investigate. When will the public become tired of weak leadership, poor public safety policy, and gambling on coin-flipping unproven software technologies? Two or three years of unprecedented back-to-back increases in violent crime might do it. Can we say 1000 murders and 6000 shootings in 2018? In an alternate world we could arrest our way out of the problem? Yes -- we could move strongly against the gangs. We could refuse to tolerate predatory gangs. We could besiege, hunt, and bring them to heel. But that mission requires strong leadership to ensure a single mission and the right deployment and operations. Something we aren't seeing on the horizon right now

We were following a Latin King about 8yrs. ago who parked his vehicle near the 26th street court building. He left his vehicle and proceeded to court at around 0915hrs. We continued to sit on his vehicle and at 0945hrs. two Satan Disciples drove up and broke the drivers window. They threw a flare into the front seat which ignited the interior of the Latin Kings auto. We observed the Disciples drive a short distance from the burning vehicle and park to watch the fire. While the Fire Department was on the scene extinguishing the fire, we were able to arrest the two Disciples. After searching their vehicle, a sawed-off pump 12ga. loaded with #4 shot and a loaded 9mm H&K where found. So it's not just happening now, it's been happening. Area four a few years ago arrested and charged someone for killing a witness. He (the witness) was killed after leaving court about three blocks away from 26th and Cal.

Feds Would Rather Drop a Child Porn Case Than Give Up a Tor Exploit

THE DEPARTMENT OF Justice filed a motion in Washington State federal court on Friday to dismiss its indictment against a child porn site. It wasn’t for lack of evidence; it was because the FBI didn’t want to disclose details of a hacking tool to the defense as part of discovery. Evidence in United States v. Jay Michaud hinged at least in part on information federal investigators had gathered by exploiting a vulnerability in the Tor anonymity network.

Now this is funny:

Funeral home directors call for law to reduce violence at funerals

Heather Schroering
Funeral home shooting
June Williams, director of a Gresham neighborhood funeral home, worries about getting shot at work.

In the last two years, Golden Gate Funeral Home has seen several acts of violence, including an instance where a staff driver was shot.

In the past, Williams said she’s had to turn over to the police funeral home guest books signed by gang members who were attending funerals of their rivals. Among grieving families and friends mourning their lost loved ones are revenge-seeking guests that compromise the safety of everyone at the funeral home, 2036 West 79th St., Williams said.

“Regardless of what caused the death of a loved one, I have mothers and grandmothers that are standing with me. ... We deserve to be safe at a funeral,” said Bishop Larry Trotter, senior pastor of the Sweet Holy Spirit Church, 8621 S. Chicago Ave., in the South Chicago neighborhood, where a Tuesday press conference was held calling for legislation to keep violence out of funerals.

Chicago funeral home directors and activists at the conference said they are working with Sen. Napoleon Harris, D-Harvey, on writing a bill that proposes tougher consequences for offenders who commit crimes involving a weapon at funerals. The bill will mirror the stiffer penalties for certain gun crimes near schools and along designated Safe Passage routes, Trotter said.

In the last year, there have been at least 17 acts of violence at funerals, according to Bishop Tavis Grant of Antioch Network of Churches & Ministries. But churches and funeral homes don’t have the means to provide security, he said.

The violence, which Trotter said often stems from unresolved gang-related incidents involving the deceased, is a threat to the bereaved. Along with the shooting at Golden Gate Funeral Home, Williams said a visitor was stabbed at a service while standing at the casket.

But staff members at funeral homes and chapels are also at risk.

“There used to be a code amongst different types of folks,” Williams said. “You didn’t bother the people at church, and you didn't bother them at a funeral.

“We have to be concerned when men come into the funeral home and we ask them to take off their hat,” she said. “Some of the gang members, that’s their colors, they don’t want to take them off. Or somebody steps on somebody’s foot then they’re ready to fight.”

Sweet Holy Spirit Church spokesman Sean Howard said the proposal is under review this week and is being vetted to become a bill.

Some people describe the NYPD as being like the Mafia. They don't mean that in terms of organized crime. They mean it in terms of affiliations and families being all-important. It’s really a strange outfit. In terms of civil service positions, you can rise to the rank of captain. Above that, you’re going to need to be affiliated. You’re going to need someone pulling for you. Merit has very little to do with it.

Secondly who will he hire as our lobbyist? I am very interested because I was born in 1970 and I want to see the year lowered for the COLA. These are important questions that are not answered on the Blue Voice blog. Or on Facebook. Questions that were not answered at any roll calls. Angelo's lobbyist overrode the Governors veto to get the COLA changed from 1955 to 1966. The first change in legislation in 15 years. I am holding my ballot waiting for an answer

Keep in mind the COLA was not orchestrated by Dean, but because the fire department got it first

Now this is funny:

Funeral home directors call for law to reduce violence at funerals

~Snip!~

In the last two years, Golden Gate Funeral Home has seen several acts of violence, including an instance where a staff driver was shot.

~Snip!~

“Regardless of what caused the death of a loved one, I have mothers and grandmothers that are standing with me. ... We deserve to be safe at a funeral,” said Bishop Larry Trotter, senior pastor of the Sweet Holy Spirit Church, 8621 S. Chicago Ave., in the South Chicago neighborhood, where a Tuesday press conference was held calling for legislation to keep violence out of funerals.

Chicago funeral home directors and activists at the conference said they are working with Sen. Napoleon Harris, D-Harvey, on writing a bill that proposes tougher consequences for offenders who commit crimes involving a weapon at funerals...

~Snip!~

In the last year, there have been at least 17 acts of violence at funerals, according to Bishop Tavis Grant of Antioch Network of Churches & Ministries. But churches and funeral homes don’t have the means to provide security, he said.

The violence, which Trotter said often stems from unresolved gang-related incidents involving the deceased, is a threat to the bereaved...

But staff members at funeral homes and chapels are also at risk.

“There used to be a code amongst different types of folks,” Williams said. “You didn’t bother the people at church, and you didn't bother them at a funeral..."

"We dunno why y'all Po-leece actin' like y'all
don't care about US!"

Or is it:

Po-leece needs to stop shootin' an' killin'
our young mens for no good reason!"

Or:

"Defun' da Po-leece an' gives dey money to US!"

Or our personal favorite:
"Po-leece hit squads wearin' disguises an'
goin' around our naybahoods an' genocidin'
our young black men!"

"The Police ARE the problem in Chicago.
If only we could hurry up and strip them
of their legal protections. Public servants
don't need to have contractual protections.

Public servant contracts only serve to
protect them from the "Community's Justice."

The Policeman throws his head back and
howls with laughter...

Put in your time. Survive intact.
Escape Chicago and spend your
pension dollars where you're appreciated.

Leave these hateful, pathology addled
people and folks to gnaw on each other.

They're way beyond your care or concern.

Sure don't.
Policemen are exposed to enough ghastly
shit and will never be made whole for it.

As if the cancer cluster/upper respiratory
ailment haven Police Stations that ought to
have been closed down and bulldozed 30
years ago or more.

If ever an OSHA beef were to grow legs,
it should metastasize (positively) into a
HUGELY punitive civil judgement against
the city for failing to provide safe and clean
work places for Policemen.

Zack Fardon was half-assed right about the city
getting away with providing Police Service
on the cheap...

Seriously... It seems the powers that be don't
want any discussion as to why so many Coppers
in places like old 012, old 013, 011, old 006, old 007,
025 and more; have contracted various cancers
and upper respiratory ailments and have sickened
and died from the same.

Especially successive desk and lock-up personnel
who have died relatively young?

Oh wait...

"You Cops bitch about everything!
We pay your overly cush salaries
so STFU, stop complaining and
get back to work! We can't wait
to bust your Union and peel back
those too generous contractual
protections you brutes enjoy."

...And here's the truly funny part.

"The Police need to be driven out
of their defensive crouch and made
to interact with the public and
aggressively engage the criminals
again."

All this "harder and faster reforms" for The Police
and continued lip service for the doings of Dude Inc.

If this is true, where was the FOP when the CFD got it. They don't keep track of the proposed changes to the CFD pension?

Some people describe the NYPD as being like the Mafia. They don't mean that in terms of organized crime. They mean it in terms of affiliations and families being all-important. It’s really a strange outfit. In terms of civil service positions, you can rise to the rank of captain. Above that, you’re going to need to be affiliated. You’re going to need someone pulling for you. Merit has very little to do with it.

Here's a gem, 19YO on bail for gun charges shoots someone. Man I guess being under aged, charged with a crime, not having a FOID etc. and still having a gun means those background checks are a raging success.

The long-awaited new era was introduced painlessly
and smoothly. As retired science teacher Mike Kennedy of Oakdale told the Bee in an e-mail, "I agree that some science and other teachers (teach intelligent design), yes, and it is unethical when they do so. 'Dirty Laundry' from his first solo album reached #3 on USA charts.
