End the Signs

This has been a bunch of crap for years now - remember the Hampton sign:
  • A man whose father was killed at a New York City restaurant bombing for which the militant Puerto Rican nationalist group FALN claimed responsibility lashed out at Chicago aldermen Thursday for approving an honorary street designation for FALN leader Oscar Lopez Rivera.

At the behest of local Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26th), the City Council’s Transportation Committee voted without a word of debate to designate a three-block stretch of North Luis Munoz Marin Drive as Oscar Lopez Rivera Way.

Maldonado did not attend the meeting and could not be reached for comment. Last month, he participated in what turned out to be a successful demonstration outside the White House to plead for now-former President Barack Obama to commute Lopez Rivera’s 70-year sentence.
Maldonado has always been a turd, and it shouldn't be surprising he'd support a terrorist group that planted bombs across the United States that killed numerous people. This street sign practice should have been done away with years ago, never more so when it was used to reward campaign contributions by some guy, then rescinded in a fit of political pique by people who thought Hillary was going to win an election.

It ought to be used only to honor the dead, and then, someone who actually made a quantifiable contribution to the betterment of the City. That would leave out aldercreatures and most political hacks. And exceptions for those who gave their lives defending the City.

Alderman Moreno has the street by his ward office named for his wife who died of cancer. Not a hero, not a veteran, or a police or fire hero but for his wife as his own personal tribute to her.

Hey SCC, didn't Maldonado also pull a snit fit when he was stopped 3-4 years ago on a traffic stop?
Good idea to limit the honorary signs for First Responders who fell in the LOD. It will definitely keep the AlderCreatures out of the loop.

Lopez-Rivera has been in federal prison since 1981, after he was convicted of seditious conspiracy and arms trafficking in connection with his leadership of the FALN, the notorious left-wing terrorist group that perpetrated more than 130 attacks on U.S. soil from the mid 1970s through the mid 1980s, killing six and wounding many more. Most members of the FALN, which purported to fight for Puerto Rican independence but maintained deep ties to Fidel Castro’s Cuba, were long ago captured and imprisoned, and many of them have already served their time and been released. But Lopez-Rivera remains unrepentant about his crimes, and he’s hardly been a model prisoner: In one of two failed attempts to escape, he conspired with others inside and outside his prison to kill his way to freedom, attempting to procure grenades, rifles, plastic explosives, bulletproof vests, blasting caps, and armor-piercing bullets. After the FBI thwarted this plan, another 15 years was added to Lopez’s original 55-year sentence.

It is equally sickening to see the honorary street signs on the West side for the ghetto preachers who hustle votes for the Machine.

As for the FALN terrorist being honored with a sign, how Puerto Rican nationalists cannot persuade the Puerto Rican voters to opt for independence? Every time the question is on the ballot, the voters choose US welfare over self-autonomy.

I bet theres are more than 5 thousand Vietnam vets that are Puerto Rican that currently are living in or formerly from Humbolt Park that DESERVE an honorary sign. Is the less than honorable alderman monreno (not worthy of capital letters) this ridiculous?

Why stop at a FALN terrorist ? Jeffery Dahmer, Gacy, Richard Speck, all had a little something to do with Chicago too. How about Jeff Fort street ? It has a nice ring to it. I think Midway Airport can be changed to Fort Port. Its a winner if you ask me. What a great way to put forward a hero for the youth to look up to. Every time cars are stolen from a rent-a-car lot near the airport, and the offenders drive past the Fort Port sign, they can let off a few rounds out the window of the newly acquired hot ride. Like in celebration or a kind of thank you to Jeff Fort. Naming a street after a terrorist is truly un-fuckin-believable !!!!

How about naming them after the dead children that seem to be collateral damage in the continuing mayhem in Chicago? Since BLM doesn't care, maybe the signs would provide a reminder to everyone, everyday who the real victims are.

The young man who's father was murdered is now 36 years of age. Fatherless a long, long time. He deserves a huge salute for challenging the seriously flawed values of this city and the disturbed values of Maldonado. May he be truly successful...(imagine if this were your son), If we can help, how???

Maldonado and Gutierrez are FALN sympathizers and are haters of the police. We have a city counsel who won't dare cross each other fearing reprisals. This city sucks. Fucking Puerto Rican criminal gets a street dedicated to him.and fuck Obama for pardoning him.

Is it going to have to come to all CPD officers just turning their backs on certain portions of the city, not in a "too afraid" sens of a 'no go zone" but instead a simple "none of us will go there and will quit if ordered to go there" kind of protest like NYC cops did when the publicly turned their backs on their mayor?

Is there enough UNITY within the CPD to stand together yet? If not, just how long is it going to take before you fellas stop looking to your union to do FOR you what you an only do YOURSELVES?

Seriously, what is Rahm going to DO? Fire you all? If you all stood together and SAID OPENLY - NONE of US will GO HERE or HERE or HERE or HERE until it is openly admitted by the mayor's office and the Chief's office that the claims of RACISM against the Police Force has NO MERIT and those saying it about the CPD family are outright lying BECAUSE those areas specifically pointed at are MAJORITY MINORITY making it IMPOSSIBLE to do ANY law enforcement there that WON'T produce the very statistics they then use to scream "racism". IOW, UNTIL IT STOPS......until it ends, NONE of us will GO THERE, much less engage in policing there.

The question is, why in the heck are you guys, and girls, not banding together RIGHT NOW to do this OPENLY? Folks, the whole COUNTRY will be behind you! LOOOOOOK at what Trump TAUGHT you - do NOT fear the Political Correctness ANYMORE! You are NOT ALONE! We stand with you! We are on your side and we will back you up! You are many - Rahm is ONE. Surround him.

There is another faln member who eluded capture or escaped detention somewhere near the boarder with mexico. A mexican government/politician provided safe passage for this terrorist to Cuba where he has been living since the early 1980s. Unbelievable how these countries so close to us work against us. America's true friends in the world is Israel and England; in that order. I hope President Trump sticks it to both cuba & mexico.

Anthony Napolitano of the 41st Ward dedicated Oxford Ave from Devon to Avondale to murdered Police Officer Joseph Cali. Now the USPO on NW Hwy will also be named after this Vietnam Infantry Vet and killed in the line of duty PO.

I will remember this Alderman and I will not spend any money in his ward. Lots of places to shop and eat outside an area that celebrates a murderer. These are not my values. Everyone should steer clear of that area.

So if the voters realize the consequences for their actions, will they continue to elect him?

Lopez gets a brown sign! They might as well revisit the decision to deny one for Fred Hampton. At least he never actually took up arms nor bombed any one. Next thing you know they'll put one up near St. Columbanus for Al Capone.
