A certain extra-round west side aldercreature is complaining that junkies are shooting up in a park, setting up an encampment, and generally making the west side a shithole.....oh wait, the west side has been a shithole for half a century now.
Anyway, the aldercreature is getting heat from the "community" that junkies are discarding needles and empty drug baggies all over the place. What the "community" doesn't seem to remember is that one of the biggest west side needle "distribution and exchange" sites is only a few blocks away from the park they're complaining about - an exchange that the aldercreature brought into the area to cut down on the spike in communicable diseases among the junkie population.
If you enable misbehavior via decriminalization, lenient sentencing or providing lawbreakers with the means to, you know, break the law and use drugs, you shouldn't be surprised when you get a bunch more of it.

These things are just set up to provide "social workers" with a good living -- to keep government grants coming in. Most of the "work" done is in typing up reports, "studies" about "harm reduction," etc. to secure next year's appropriation.
The real effective clampdown has been on, say, an old guy who could use a few 5 mg. Norco for his back injury. No prescriptions by phone or fax, no refills ever again, physically drag yourself to doctor, argue, negotiate, avoid "wellness lady" who wants you to do "creative visualization," drag self to pharmacy, get fish-eye, actually have to present ID to suspicious 19-year-old girl who Xeroxes it and then checks the computers nationwide...and then hands you a stapled-shut bag without telling you that half of your other prescriptions aren't in it! Open that thing and ALWAYS LOOK, RIGHT AT THE COUNTER, so you don't find out when you get home, at midnight, when the place is closed now...
It's easier to just suffer for no good reason. Believe me.
So what if you need steel-soled jungle boots to walk through that park without stepping on sharps...

It's not just a west side problem. The old rail yards between Clark and the river south of Roosevelt has turned into a huge tent city. We're talking hundreds of homeless, junkies and the like living down there in the urban forest that has sprung up. We don't go near the place for fear of bringing home lice, fleas or any of the other little critters that inhabit the residents. Witnessed a women who came out of there with a big chunk of her arm rotting away from a flesh eating disease that many are said to have there. The arrogant South Loopers would shit their tighty whities if they knew what was living amongst them.

I can tell you with certainty that there are many doctors out there that freely write prescriptions for people for opoids, hydromorphone and hydrocordone as well as others, clonazepam and " bars" These doctors are well known to the drug using community. They perform a cursory examination and prescribe these drugs without further testing. I have seen it many times because I have drug users in my family. And, I am not talking small amounts. One family member is an open needle user and the doctor says nothing. Blame the medical community and its lack of oversight for aggravating the drug abuse in this country. My experience is from the Chicago area, but I have read about and heard horror stories about Kentucky, West Virginia and North Carolina. Put these " doctors" in jail.

So who is the AlderCreature in question?
If an 8 or 9 yr old child goes into the park picks up a needle starts playing around and gets stuck, thus getting some deadly disease then these caring people will blame and sue the needle manufacturer. Because we know the junkies can't be responsible for bad behavior. It's the Liberal way, isn't it?
What the alder-assholes and vote whores never care about is that the more they give away, the more the community takes. Needle center's too far away. Next they'll want it in the park. AlderUn-Informed needs to be reminded that drug selling and drug use is not a violent crime, hence the lack of police involvement.
So what's better to have littered in your typical ghetto park, malt liquor bottles, quarter chip bags and candy wrappers or nickel bags and needles? Trash collectors have it easy, nobody uses the cans.

I talked to the alderman and his people about this, these deuch bags basically made a heroin island for themselves. They piss and shit there, leave their needles and empty baggies. There are actual kids who hang out there and shouldn't have to deal with this, the west side has enough issues.
We went there a few times, chased the idiots out of there and the aldermans office got parks to clean it up.
What I can say is I was at several meetings with alderman ervin and he stood up for police over and over. People tried to beat up and disrespect the officers in 11 and he wouldn't allow it. He told the people the police can't do it all you need to get involved.
I have no ties to him or his office, I was just the representative for the 11th district at these meetings.
I can't speak about what he did before or when I wasn't involved, but I was at 4 meetings and he defended the police at each one.
Take it for what you want, but I can't speak bad of the man after dealing with him and his staff.
