2016 Over/Under
After this weekend, where (currently) 8 were killed and 33 maimed, while running up to (and maybe past) 600, we've decided to set the over/under for homicides at the following, fully appropriate, number:
- 666
Cold weather is going to sap some of the momentum, and it'll be here soon enough.

Now I can call myself the "Real Police"! My district has shootings and homicides all the time. Backlogs are now common....I guess they call them raps.....sucks for Joe Citizen and his tax contribution.

the number doesn't matter. they dont care. even the majority of victims who are blacks dont care. Talk about a code of silence.
As of 2200, it is 10 dead and 40 wounded, by midnight the total for 2016 will be over double the 2014 and 2015 numbers.

I think because of global warming and climate change we can look forward to an unusually warm winter. Taking that into account, you might want to revise your numbers up a little bit.

What?? That would indicate approximately 6 murders per week for the rest of the year. We've gotten to this heady point we're at right now with months like January-April 2016, which were all pretty cold as I recall. The weekly average now stands at almost 15. I think you're WAY off here. There's almost no way we can miss 700, and 750 wouldn't be stretching it at the current rate. No one else has responded yet, you still have time to update your number...
When the weather gets colder, the reptiles will slow down for a while, until they put on a second pair of pants. Then, business as usual.

I remain firmly entrenched in the belief that due to their tireless dedication and our departments ineptness the gang banging community can eke out 750 homicides this year in a precursor to next year's historic post apocalyptic-esque casualty count.
Unfurling believable that homicide numbers could spike by 20% or more and no one bats an eye. What will it take for these asshole to realize that while they are Fucking with police the people of this city are dying at a higher rate than most declared war zones.
Hundreds dead and thousands shot in Chicago! Crime is out of control across the nation, not just Chicago. I retired to Naples Florida a year ago and just two months ago police arrested a subject for riding Manatees in a Reserve. The world is going to hell.

I'm not fetal, I am doing exactly what is asked. Last year 6 dudes standing on a corner in an area known for narcotic transactions I stopped them, now since I really don't know what they are doing I just smile and wave. I'm ashamed on how racist I was, 3 dudes all 18 years old following a lone female, maybe they're just making sure she's un bothered by the neighborhood ruffians. 704 is my number. BLM.

Every month this year, except for April, has beaten it's long term average. Nov and Dec have averaged ~51 homicides each for the past 60 years. Assuming we're in that ballpark once again this year, we're looking at 710-720, +/- 10 on either side. The stretch goal is 740-750 if the current pace keeps up. 680 on the low end if the weather becomes uncooperative.

Look at "dumb dumb Reilly" (Sung to Reilly auto parts song), removing a Trump sign, shows people that aldermen have absolutely nothing to do except collect a huge paycheck for doing nothing to help the taxpayers! Hoping trump as soon as he takes office fires all the criminals and puts in the right people and does a deep dive forensic audit on this city-county-state it would be a pleasure loading up the buses to ship them all to 219 dearborn! 666 seems low. At the current rate (if it holds steady at two a day) we should be at 630 by 1 November. If November and December rate is one/day that would result in 691. One a day is very low. 700 is doable. Come on, Honor students, you can make this happen.
