Trooper Wounds Gunman

  • A state trooper shot two men in the back seat of a taxi Thursday night on the South Side when one of them pulled out a gun, according to Illinois State Police.

State troopers were conducting an unrelated traffic stop about 8:30 p.m. near West 77th Street and South Vincennes Avenue when a cab pulled up, and the driver flagged down the troopers saying his passengers refused to pay their fare, according to a statement from state police. A source said the two passengers were accused of robbing the driver.

The troopers walked up to the cab to talk to the passengers and saw “what appeared to be a gun” in one of their pockets, state police said. The man “did not listen to any of the Trooper’s commands and then pulled out a gun from his pocket,” and one trooper opened fire after telling him “numerous times to drop the gun,” state police said.

The 25-year-old man accused of holding the gun was shot twice in the lower torso, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department. He remained hospitalized early Friday with wounds that weren’t thought to be life-threatening, police said.

The other man, 23, was shot in the toe and released into police custody after being treated at St. Bernard Hospital, authorities said.
A trooper went to the hospital, but he wasn't wounded by gunfire. Nice job Trooper.

Don't Black Lives Matter if they are shot by the ISP rather then the CPD?
I already knew that Black Lives Don't Matter if they are shot by thugs and bangers.

God save the poor Peorian citizen with a Carry Permit if he ventilates a thug while being robbed.

Great job, I'm glad the trooper is Ok. Working on our highways here in this beautiful city is no joke, especially as a 10-99 unit

I was watching chan 2 yesterday morning when the noon news people came on with a news brief. They said state police shot 2 people for not paying cab fair. They "forgot" to add the part about the gun. GOOD REPORTING

Good job Trooper!
(Now prepare to be demonized. Can't have someone like you out running around enforcing law and order in an election year.)

"The man “did not listen to any of the Trooper’s commands and then pulled out a gun from his pocket,” and one trooper opened fire after telling him “numerous times to drop the gun,” state police said."

Open-and-shut case in the new "self-policing alternative community court," held weekly in the Glass Block Cross Church at 79th and Mayhem.

The judge stares fixedly at the trooper from an inch away, then triggers his bullhorn and pronounces --

"Po-lice shot first. Free the defendant, strip the officer."

>sound of gavel<

>cheers from gallery -- "WHOO!" High-fiving, cackling, stamping of feet.<

Leo has these troopers guys on point! You never heard of a trooper involved in these type of incidents until recently. good job trooper! I even think he had his cover on, in accordance with the ISP procedure. I heard there was a ISP boss present and was reviewing video to ensure that the cover policy was followed. Hope the trooper recovers quickly.

How come when ISP are involved in these situations there's no BLM B.S. with protestors etc?
If CPD were in the exact same situation and responded in the same exact manner as ISP did the BLM goofs would be making all sorts of noise.
What gives?

Notice how Ric Flair isn't giving a news conference saying how he's "concerned" with the troopers actions and announcing that he's stripping the trooper.

We've got a real dud of a Supe.

Yes I asked myself the same thing. They have take home cars, better and fatter pensions, earlier retirement and a shorter work day ( their day is portal to portal). And, they do not have to deal with the day to day ghetto crap.
