In their ever increasing efforts to stay relevant and stir the pot of anti-police sentiment, the Tribune comes up with this "exhaustive" study:
- Every five days, on average, a Chicago police officer fired a gun at someone.
In 435 shootings over a recent six-year span, officers killed 92 people and wounded 170 others.
While a few of those incidents captured widespread attention, they occurred with such brutal regularity — and with scant information provided by police — that most have escaped public scrutiny.
Now, after months of struggles with Chicago police to get information through the Freedom of Information Act, the Chicago Tribune has compiled an unprecedented database of details of every time police fired a weapon from 2010 through 2015.

- This year, HeyJackass.com says that shootings happen an average of every two-hours-and-three minutes. A killing happens every twelve hours (two a day). Could the Tribune "reporters" calculate those types of totals over the same 6 year period? (hint - it'll be close to three THOUSAND dead and well over ten THOUSAND wounded.)
- Maybe the Tribune could do an analysis of how many "Shots Fired" calls are made to 9-1-1, how many go out over the police radio daily, and how many were actually legit?
- How many shots total were fired? We can't recall a scene in the past six years that didn't have at least five or six shots, counted by witnesses or shell casings we picked up. Most scenes were ten or more though. Some really messed up scenes were thirty and forty at a time. We're betting those totals would be in the hundreds of thousands of rounds fired.
And after all of that "exhaustive" research, if the Tribune "reporters" break it down racially so that if Eric Holder comes to town, we can have that "frank discussion" he was always going on about.

Why don't they analyze the true cost of hospitalization of all gunshot victims and come up with a total that shows how much taxpayers are picking on the bill for annually?
Now THAT would be a good study to review exactly how much it costs per year that is being wasted.
In the past, there have been posts that say a gunshot victim costs an average of $250,000 - some say that is high. Well, what is the REAL number?
This is a huge tax on everyone paying for their medical insurance (I am sure these hood rats who get shot aren't carrying a Blue Cross Blue Shield card).
Maybe if people knew how much they were paying for these "victims", there might be more of a demand to stop the shootings. If nothing else, maybe those families who are involved in the shootings, should be taken off of benefits like food stamps, and "free phones".

The police are trying to catch these people and when the police find them sometimes these criminal don't comply and surrender. So they might be shot by the police defending themselves from these criminals. Most of these shootings and murders happen in the black community. How are the police suppose to do their jobs to stop these people that don't surrender? Are the police suppose to let them go and walk away to shoot and kill again. Off topic: Those of you who want residency removed may want to read about this situation going on now in the San Jose, Cal. PD. Staffing is so low, that officers are being forced to work mandatory overtime (they work 12 hour shifts). Housing in San Jose (silicon valley) is pretty much unattainable for the officers, since the average home price there is about 1 million $. Officers are now forced to sleep in mobile homes in the parking lot of their station during their work week, because they are just too exhausted between their assigned work shift and mandated overtime (17 hour shifts, in effect) to drive home, which is usually a 2 hour commute. What a nightmare, with no relief in sight, because their rules don't permit lateral transfers. All new hires must go through their academy for the full ride. Younger hires leave once they get their academy certifications millennials do a lot of career shifting now), moving on to departments with better work conditions, leaving the older officers mired in a real mess.

Did the tribune do their math correctly? 6 years is 2,190 days. 435/2190 is .198, a more believable figure. 2190/435 is 5.03, a more sensational figure.

The only problem I see with those numbers is that 343 people who should be dead survived. At least 170 of those caught some lead though.

When the police shoot at someone, it's because that person is a dangerous criminal committing some act that caused the police to need to intervene. With the exception of the extremely rare innocent bystander who gets injured or killed, and the infinitely more rare innocent person who is just murdered by the police, people who get shot by the police deserve to be shot by the police. They have done things to make the police shoot at them. The police shoot at them to protect themselves and the citizens from these criminals. This is all extremely obvious to the normal people of society. The liberal morons, criminal scum, families of offenders, BLMers, Father Fakers, etc. will never accept this obvious fact though. The media knows the truth, but "Police shoot guy who totally deserved it" doesn't sell papers or get viewers, so they push the lies of the "community" despite knowing it's all bullshit. If the police arrest a rapist and murderer, people are generally happy about it. Take the same guy and a situation where he doesn't go quietly in cuffs, and the police have to shoot him, and now the police are the villain. In that 6 year "study", term used very loosely. How many police officers were shot at? How many shooting were ruled justifiable? How many of the suspects were complying with the lawful orders of the police at the time they were shot? Why are the majority of them all one race? Turn in to the village, you will see more blue ribbons and plenty of American flags that are flown everyday not just on holidays. We are still trying although the vill is not what it used to be, (thanks Daley for your Olympics relocation )Homes are taken care of,(the apartment buildings are the problem) neighbors still say hello, mow their lawns and watch out for each other. We are starting to be probed though and I'm a pound or two heavier when I walk the dog.Breaks my heart but I see the writing on the wall, south of Nashville is looking better all the time, but you can't get a good beef with peppers and don't ever order a hot dog ! I think any military personnel would have the same feelings. So that would leave the newly armed IRS, Treasury, and Postal Service private army that Obama promised us to quell the insurrection? I don't think so. Those people all have families living among us and would surely have to consider retribution for their actions.
And more importantly, where will the "elite" people be hiding during all of this? And if it ends with a restructuring of the government, do they and their army of minions assume they would be able to just slip back into their old jobs?

"We are disappointed with what we've seen and how Mr. Smith was treated, and the chief of patrol called him personally to apologize on behalf of the department," said Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. "And Superintendent Johnson has directed the chief of patrol to ensure this matter is addressed today with the district."

Hit Wrightwood and Clark at about 4:50am any day of the week and you will catch one of their trucks pulling u turns within 300 feet of an intersection, pulling up to park In the Crosswalk and then drive through the red light to drop off the Red Eye and other toilet paper.

There are some good, well-managed apts. here too with close to zero problems, and a lot of nice tenants doing the same thing, except no grass to cut and in a smaller box. >grin< They are your neighbors too, chatting on the street and going to the town events and keeping an eye on things. Also pay property tax, it's part of the rent. Good PD and fire and public works people.

Well I wouldnt mind the story if it resulted in more and better training and facilities, but Nawwwww. It wont. We have some good trainers, always have, but we have the same shit ass ranges we had 32 years ago when I started. They are a fucking embarrassment and we still dont have an out door range. The 2nd largest Dept. in the country and we still dont have an outdoor range. We have to use some small suburban ghetto's range.
We shoot handguns, or at least are required to, once a year in a 30 rnd course a moron could pass. I bet 90% of POs dont shoot one more round then that, and even then they come back boasting at how they shot 100%. Motherfucker! Lassie could shoot 100% on that course.
FBI guy joins the rest of the world and we get ARs, and they find really good guys to teach the course. Then they have them shoot 30 , now 60, rounds a year in a 25 yrd crap range. Many of them cant even take the weapon apart when they qualify because they never even carry it. This has always been an anti-gun Dept. which is why we shoot like shit and make shit decisions when to shoot. Always have, now? we simply have more bullets in the gun to spray with.
The blame falls squarely on administration and elected officials, who it seems would rather spend countless millions buying ghetto Mom'ses new 300's and trips to Vegas when the LiL motherfucker they never had a use for gets shot up by poorly shooting Police. P.S. Since we can't strike, this is as close to a picket line as we're ever going to get. Therefore, those working despite the union asking them not to, should be considered scabs, or whatever word is closest to scab without offending you. Maybe you can suggest a new word for the dictionary to encompass those who have a no-strike clause, and who volunteer for overtime initiatives, against the wishes of their union leaders and presumably the majority of that union's members. Once that new word gets added to the dictionary, we'll all start using it. Until then, we'll probably stick with scab. I'll also call them morons, assholes, and pieces of shit for helping the city cover its manpower shortage by pretending we have more police than we do. Were the ones using firearms better shots it would lower the bad publicity offing a non target granny or 9 year old. There are some realistic operating soft pellet guns that could be used with minimal harassment from local anti gun nuts. Also the opportunity for local employment would be great. Think how survivors could be used to offer advice on drive by tactics, walk up surprises, long range pistol firefights, the opportunities are endless.
Of course the lifecycle would be short because some ungrateful customer would come in, shoot the place up and the city would shut things down.

I agree in that the delivery driver is not responsible for the content. However, they are a very important cog in the wheel of the printed press. The same press that never misses an opportunity to use spin, half truths and just outright bs yellow journalism to slam us and make us appear out of control, racist, and evil even when we act within the guidelines of the department and the law. They also never miss an opportunity to do some expose' about the police doing things with the above the law mentality, you know, like driving outside the rules of the road. Often times, in such investigations, the officer is responding to a call or assist (although they wouldn't relay that in their expose') but a delivery driver has no such authority to circumvent the laws just to make a timely delivery. And I would think that the watchdogs would be happy that we addressed this. Maybe they can do a series of articles on it and call it "broken wheel" or some nonsense like that.
They will never print our side, never print anyone who is supporting us. So, this is about all we can do. Forcing their delivery drivers to simply follow the rules of the road might just mean that their deliveries are a bit later and some citizens cant grab one of their papers on their way to work. Less people reading the smear job that they do on us on a regular basis is always a good thing. Printed media is already hanging on by a thread, maybe the small drop in distribution will help push them over the edge.
I don't live in the city, but even from a distance I could see the bias and the BS in the Trib article. Classic case of worrying about the splinter in someone else's eye (CPD)and ignoring the plank in your own (Chicago.)

There are some excellent training academies in the Chicago area/northern Illinois that specialize in firearms/tactics/first aid. Use your comp time/furlough to attend classes. Pay the tuition and ammo cost using your duty availability-that's what the check is for. Bring your partner(s). A number of us who are serious about our profession and developing our skills have done exactly this.

You need to understand that the minders at the Trib have budgets to maintain. It takes time, talent, perseverance and worthy subject matter to craft a piece of hard-nosed investigative journalism, all of which takes money. When money is tight and you have column-inches to fill, you get the amateurish pap that ran in Sunday's paper. When nearly every media outlet in the country has already been bashing the police for months, four daring heroes from the Trib decided to venture where they figured no reporters have gone before: How many times have the police fired their guns in the last 5 years? Gasp! Hurry! Prop me up, Matilda, I'm catching a bad case of the vapors!
Fresh! Daring! New! Tantalizing! Edgy! And almost like they surveyed a high school journalism class for subject matter ideas. What a colossal waste of time, money, ink and paper. (Obviously, little talent was expended.)
Talk about straining at gnats and swallowing camels.
But I forgot, it really is all about the money. It's about creating a splashy front page headline that will appeal to those looking to confirm what they already know. It will appeal to those looking for a convenient scapegoat. To those looking for a warm fuzzy instead of a cold prickly. To those who prefer to ignore the 900# gorilla in the room.
What about: How many shots in Chicago have been fired by civilians at other civilians? Approximately is good enough. Who fired those shots? Who was hit by them? And why?
Evidently the minders at the Trib are more concerned about alienating readers than they are with presenting them with the truth. Altruism apparently has limits, and at the Trib those limits are set by profit/loss instead of community well-being.
When I wrote the email to the tribune I indicated statistics that showed that the blacks in those communities have more encounters with cops, have more guns, and just have higher crime rates. I indicated the high number of black on black crime. I mentioned there is no deterrent for gun crimes because people like preckwinkle and foxx think the jails are too full. That line of reasoning was way too hard for the liberal media to understand. We must continue to attack the trib and sun times reporters. Each paper had a giant anti cop article. The scum times had the racial profiling dope smoking arrest by Dumke. The trib had the shooting story which was total bs. That was Todd Lighty. All their reporters are liberal Rahm sycophant ass kissers just like their editor Bruce Dold. Steve chapman is another one .

What will be more interesting will be to see if the fiscal management of this bank equals that of black run cities like Detroit (Kwame, how we loved ya'), where embezzlement and graft were legion. Don't think that I'll be buying any stock in that bank any time soon.

My friend if you ever saw me shoot you'd see I wasnt complaining about "me". I was talking about the situation as a whole, and if you read what I wrote then you saw I assigned part of the blame to individual officers. But not all, nor should I. This has never been a Pro-training Dept. To say otherwise is absurd,and our range facilities are an embarrassment. The repairman at 025 should just fucking live there.
