Another $7 Billion of Debt?

  • Election-year pressure building on the state legislature to end a near year-long impasse with the governor turned into anger at the Statehouse on Thursday, the animus crossing political parties and the House and Senate chambers only days away from lawmakers' scheduled spring session adjournment.

Senate Democrats were angry at House Democrats. House Republicans were even more indignant than usual toward majority Democrats. Chicago Public Schools students shouted and demonstrated in the Capitol rotunda. And one lawmaker accused an industry lobbyist of improper, if not illegal, activity. Against that backdrop, Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner said he remained optimistic of a successful conclusion to the session on Tuesday.
First, shouldn't the CPS kids have been in school instead of being used as political props?

Second, Rauner is "optimistic" to the point of insanity of getting any sort of deal with Madigan.

Finally, Madigan presented a 500 page budget to the media at 5 PM, presented it to lawmakers at 7 PM and had it passed in the chamber by 7:30 PM.

This is a budget with an additional $7 billion in spending shortfalls to add to Illinois' how many billions of money already owed? No spending cuts, just tax hikes, and not even enough of those to close a gap of $7 billion? What the hell is the matter with all these assholes in Springfield who can't even balance the books in the face of the worst financial crisis in history?

Impeach A-Zero Madigan. He is more than the problem for Chicago and the State. Get him outta here. Guarantee he will not run for re-election again. Too late, too late. Then he and Shirley will leave town. Good-bye.

Follow the stories about the Puerto Rico bankruptcy proposals making their way thru congress. If these proposals become law, they could be a blue print for Chicago and Illinois to get some sort of bankruptcy provisions. Not good from out point of view.

Democrats at work. It isn't their money they are spending and the debt doesn't take anything out of their pockets. Why should they care?

After seeing this rally using kids as props, it is no wonder we have all these no-nothings running all over the city screaming and shouting and shooting. Its what they are being taught!
You're right SCC - they should all be in school learning to read, write and reason. Qualities in short supply.

Did you catch the daughter of the police official bellowing at the DePaul seminar? Mother must be so proud.

I love the CPS student with the sigh misspelling Chicago. He spelled it ChiGcago then put a line through the G.

In order to help balance the CPS budget:
Sports should be eliminated
Bus transport should be eliminated
All meals should be eliminated

That would be a good starting point

What's wrong with these assholes?

Mike Madigan's ego. All that matters to him is being able to exert his will over others. He uses PAC money to keep Dem legislators in line. He's gerrymandered the districts to insure Dem reps get elected. He's been in office over 40 years. The beginnings of the current mess happened under his "leadership." And in the interest of proving he has the power, he's willing to continue it regardless of who suffers.

It's not "assholes." It's "asshole."

Get rid of this asshole and a lot of the problems go away.

Better keep some emergency reserves in cash around the house. When that IOU shows up in the paycheck envelope, you'll know it's time to get out of town. You don't want to be there when the EBT cards quit working.
You'll get the IOU maybe a week or two before the EBT cards quit working. After all, you're the police, you're the problem.
Stay safe Officers, the politicians caused this problem, let them fix it.

Oh come now, it's just seven (7) Billion dollars, hardly worth counting in the big picture. And besides, the taxpayers are on the hook for this budget. Make them happy and give the non-taxpayer voters more free stuff. It's the Democratic way!

Ahh 7 billion here 7 billion there your talking some real money now! The way the elected throw around money they don't have but expect us the taxpayers to believe in them is really pathetic! Will the feds after Trump takes office finally be allowed to go after these criminals with vigor? Lets hope so, time to clear the stage!

Wake up brothers! If Bruce Rauner and the Republicans had their way you'd be making 32K a year. Remember...we are in a Union and Bruce Rauner is a Union Buster period. Educate yourself...read the papers, read about his "Turnaround Agenda" and most importantly look at his voting record on bills presented to him. We can't have it both ways. We want the public to sympathize with our Fraternal Union and yet many of us(not me) vote Republican for a Union Buster who wants to break state, county, and city unions? I'm still amazed folks are that easily fooled. As far as Madigan is concerned.....let's look at one issue...he is protecting prevailing wages on construction sites. Do your research. If it wasn't for Madigan and those evil Democrats it would be electricians, iron workers, laborers, carpenters and union trades that would get the shaft. Think about that this Memorial Day. Do you have any friends or relatives in any of those unions? Ask them how they feel about Bruce Rauner and every Republican Legislator that voted in lockstep with him on vetoing Union Arbritration Rights, wanting Right to Work, and cutting Pensions. I caution though...you may want to avoid telling them though what your Union Scale wages are. Because we know what Rauner would have them make. Think Mississippi,Alabama,Indiana and all those other grand right to work states. We have a pretty good UNION Contract..isn't it only fair and right we support our brother Unions. And if Rauner, the Republicans, and their ilk, do get their way, and bust Unions in Illinois which is clearly his goal...do you for a minute think he's not going after us next! Wake up! We all should be smarter than this! And...I don't even like Madigan, but I will always vote my pocketbook. You should too.
