Lottery I.O.U's

  • When Susan Rick’s boyfriend called her to say they won the Illinois Lottery, she didn’t believe him.

“He’s an avid player. He always says ‘Honey, I’m going to win the lottery tomorrow,” Rick, of Oglesby, said.

But on July 19, Rick’s boyfriend, Danny Chasteen, picked up a $250,000 winning Cool Cash scratch off ticket.

Rick and Chasteen were told the money would come within four to six weeks. But on Monday, about five weeks after the big win, they received a call from the Illinois Lottery.
Anyone know if Madigan has missed a check yet? How about the Lottery pays the winners interest for every day past the six-week window?

Watch what happens if you don't pay 250,000 in taxes on time.

IL is broke, they just are usually better at kiting checks.

Remember about 10-15 years ago, CA "had a cash flow problem" and issued IOUS?
A lot of people stopped doing business with that state. Some of them because the business went bankrupt when their cash flow was F___ed UP by the state.

If you do business with IL or Chicago, get your money up-front.

Don't worry, they'd never do that to the police or fire department payroll. Your pensions are protected by a constitutional amendment. You are perfectly safe.

Give him his roughly $150,00 grand(post tax)and let that juice ride all the way to Q of a mill. Always some unreal shit going on in this State.
Empathize here and think how bad it would suck to know & wonder when and if. That's chump change for The Governor. He could cut that check like that Shark Show w/Mark Cuban while this State tries to unfuck Itself.

OK, who lost big on the NFL Preseason games?

He is as bad at picking accounts to raid and pay his losses as he is at picking NFL teams.

I think Linda Kollmeyer and Tamberla Perry should give a Disclaimer before every Lottery drawing, stating that winners will receive an IOU. Think of what that will do for Illinois Lottery sales.

I also see the roads to Wisconsin & Indiana for the avid lottery players becoming more crowded. Hell, The City could get into it and have "Lottery Specials" & discounts on the Chicago Skyway for lottery players. Even South Shore line could offer "Lottery Specials."

Seems like with the right business plan, there is money to be made off of Illinois' Budget mess by others.

They were playing the wrong lottery game. The should have played the Ghetto Lottery. That pays out ALL THE TIME, at least in Chicago.

So where does all this money spent on lottery tickets go?

This is all by design. Endless stories of the State screwing the average citizen in order to get Rauner to cave to Madigan and approve the overblown budget Madigan is demanding.
How come a judge can drag the State to court and demand answers about why they are not paying bills but can't demand the State/City/County make the pension contributions?

One would think that the lottery money is separate from the budgets general funds. Oh, wait, this is Illinois......they steal (I mean borrow) from the fund.

How about the State of Illinois? Does the State have to wait also?

Just a reminder for those of you that use the income tax system as a forced savings plan by not adjusting your W4 forms allowing the state of Illinois take out more money each week just so you have a tax refund at the end of year.

STOP

You can't trust the bankrupt state and city to hold your money. Y'all will be getting an IOU for your tax refund next!!

This is a perfect example, government should NOT be in this kind of business and should be banned from running Lotteries!

If you play, you deserved to be paid right away!

Like in the movie Goodfellas: FUCK YOU, PAY ME!

The State of Illinois problems, is NOT my problem!

Illinois is trying to steal all of the money! This State really SUCKS from top to bottom!

Hey, if your retired or rich, get out of Illinois, ASAP!

This is just the tip of the iceberg!

When the state can't or won't pay out winnings from monies they already collected, this proves it is a crooked State!

This is such a loser State!

This is a prefect example, if you ever win the big pot in one of these lottery games!

Take the lump sum and then move out of Illinois right away, to a nice warm weather state with low taxes! Florida! Nevada! Texas!

Don't stay in this shit ass State of Illinois!

OT- CUBS showing their true colors. Striking out (26) times within the last two games. Not so fast with all the post season talk!

Doesn't the winnings come from tickets purchased? State government is apparently STEALING from the lottery.

Ok, disgruntled Sux fan, no one in the organization or their fans expected much this year with all the new, young talent.
Any chance at playoffs is a bonus.
Be more concerned about the failure of your team than the Cubs.

As a business owner I would NEVER do business with the state. You wait a ridiculous length of time to be paid for your services. As a citizen I would STOP playing the Lottey. They can't deliver on their obligation to pay winning tix.

Maybe I need to create my own business as agent for avid lottery players. For a small surcharge, I will give you the lottery slips provide, you a photocopy of your slip, and take The South Shore regularly to Indiana arriving in time to purchase for the current drawing. They have Mega-Millions and Powerball. I then return with your lottery tickets. Could be a good business.
