Eight on a Monday

  • Eight people have been injured, including two men in their 70s, in shootings on the West and South sides, police said.

[...] About a half-hour earlier, a 76-year-old man was shot in the 2700 block of South Karlov Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood, said [...] a Chicago police spokesman.

The man was shot in the knee during an armed robbery attempt at 5:30 p.m.

[...] A 34-year-old man was shot in the chest and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition. Police said the man was a known gang member.
    Shooting at Division and Keeler

The 71-year-old was shot in the ankle during the same incident and was taken to Mount Sinai, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
All kidding aside, we're pretty sure the elderly aren't out there representing and slinging dope, but that's 3 senior citizens shot in what, three days? Let's put this in a way that even the mayor can understand:
  • these people go to church, they vote, and they're getting shot.
Time for a shake-up Rahm.

There has got to be a post regarding the market tanking. It is as important as any concern that I have right now.

Does Rahm care? These "Good People" keep voting for these same criminal machine politicians at a 94% rate.

Sorry, but all civilized assumptions are off lately. It's the New Normal, you know.

Fact -- S__t becomes old s__t.

It was inevitable. What did people think was going to happen in half a century of The Great Society? Come on.

Sitting on the same set of steps, tats fading, drinkin wine and mouthin off and motherf__ing people twice their size and half their age. Not everywhere, but in the usual spots. Which means spreading like spilled motor oil. Watch yourselves.

Hell, you think HUD-supported, huge-corporate, privately-managed "senior housing" in this city ain't down with cash-box bar lobby parties for the hooked-up revs and judges and state reps and so forth while the diminishing number of frightened, bullied decent residents cower in their rooms? Ha.

"Let's put this in a way that even the mayor can understand..."

He understands just fine.

If you could put it in a way the little s__t couldn't run like hell from summer after summer, we'd be making progress.

As it is, well...expect some new $878 million "flyover" project that has nothing to do with the daily life of ordinary people to be announced any second now.

We're overdue to be thrown out and have our homes torn down again.

Welcome To Chicago -- Rahm I. Emanuel, Mayor

Rahm's brother said these people's need to die before 70 years of age doing more with less thinking: it's part of the theory of evolution. This is why the Chicago Police Department is what it is...you voted for this Rebuilding Chicago! Neighborhood by Neighborhood!

Even former pro-police mayor Rudy Giuliani is tired of crime in New York, billy deblasio has no clue how to govern and is so ignorant has no idea how to protect the innocent people! look at weak billys response pathetic!

Add former mayor Rudy Giuliani to the thousands of New Yorkers complaining about homelessness.

In an exclusive interview with NBC 4 New York, Giuliani revealed that he recently filed a complaint about a homeless man camped out on his East Side street.

"I myself, two weeks ago, had to go to a precinct to complain about a homeless person who was defecating and urinating," he said. "Do you know when people lived on the streets and didn't use bathrooms inside? It's called the Dark Ages."

Giuliani said his neighbors encouraged him to make the complaint and he was initially met with resistance from the NYPD when he went to the 19th Precinct stationhouse on East 67th Street. Officers told him they were familiar with the homeless man but the owner of the townhouse had given him permission to sleep there.

"Great," Giuliani said he told police. "Then why doesn't the owner of the townhouse invite him inside?"

The former mayor said he encouraged the officers to be more aggressive in policing quality-of-life offenses, referring to the strategies he and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton employed in the 1990s to "get rid of" the then-ubiquitous homeless people, squeegee window-washers and panhandlers.

"You chase 'em and you chase 'em and you chase 'em and you chase 'em, and they either get the treatment that they need or you chase 'em out of the city," he said.

Giuliani claims that by the time he returned home, the homeless man was gone and he has not been seen since.

The former mayor took a shot at both Bratton and Mayor de Blasio, who recently named a task force to get advice on how to clean up nudity and aggressive panhandling in Times Square.

"I didn't need a task force," he said. "It was me and Bratton. My brain. His people.

De Blasio spokeswoman Karen Hinton returned fire, saying, "We want to thank the former Mayor Giuliani for his brain."

"However, instead of 'getting rid' of people, Mayor de Blasio wants to implement long-term solutions to homelessness, building new shelters, providing supportive services and ensuring the mentally ill homeless receive the care they need," she said.

A de Blasio administration official said "homelessness has been on the rise for the past 12 years because housing budgets have been slashed. People often have nowhere to go."

Giuliani says: "I had a rule. You don't get to live on the streets."

Naw, everything is good, both thumbs up. "Real estate" is "skyrocketing" -- see it arching across the summer sky, trailing sparks? -- and Chicago is being invaded, overwhelmed by the young and rich and attractive throwin money around like it was going out of style.

Right?

Chinese devaluation of their yuan a couple weeks ago really kicked this. Jitters = industrial production cutbacks = big drop in scrap metal prices. Chinese ports fill up with shiploads of the stuff from here, just sitting at anchor out there being charged by the day, when buyers default on their contracts. Aluminum cans only .30/lb, prime #1 clean copper $1.50 or less street price. "Global economy" moves fast, man, right down to the guy poking around with a stick so he can maybe buy some shoes with the proceeds.

But, then, Death Panel Zeke and the "realtors" tell us that the poor don't belong anywhere anyway. Just go away somewhere, skip your annual checkups, die quietly.

Follow the State Police methods to reduce shootings. More seatbelt zone enforcement and extra patrols. Yeah that's the root cause of everything. People not wearing seat belts. How embarrassing is that thinking?

Is he wearing a $1,000 suit on the East side of State? He was my first foot chase in 001, in 86. The city was all over him about his noise levels. I got a city agent with me and he books. I inventoried his machine after his arrest and I said Reverend why did you run? He said "The Lord told me it was time to go, so it was time to go!" The city never bothered him again after that incident as far as I know and he is obviously still there.

Retired

You know it's him! He never quits. Every time I pass him while smoking a cigarette he says the same thing "gonna smoke yo way right to hell". I guess downtown wouldn't be the same without all the usual nutjobs. You should see this other one that's been around for a few years now. They got a church van that drives around the loop all day preaching with a speaker on the roof. Wish I could follow them around one day in the blues brothers mobile "tonight only, the blues brothers rythem and blues review" blaring. Hope your enjoying retirement man
