Cook County Courts Again?

One thing Garry might have gotten right -the courts are fucked up:
  • SCC- Dig into this story, 5 days prior to this incident 007 locked this a-hole up for UUW with a 30 round clip(yes 30) , judge found they had no PC, he was just released that day to try to pull off armed robbery which was another Craigslist gone wrong, or in this case gone right
This was the incident we posted about the Concealed Carrier shooting and wounding the guy who stuck him up. So the wounded criminal not only got out when a judge tossed a gun charge, he was able to acquire another weapon within a day so he could.... (get this) .... break the law again! And still no information on his FOID Card and Concealed Carry License he used to acquire the second gun.

Anyone know if the judge found Probable Cause this time?

Is there a way to go back and count each time SCC pointed out how some thug was released early from prison or out on bond or something only to go on and commit other crimes when he should've been incarcerated?

Not a cop. You cannot make this shit up. Honest story, I have a background, did some stupid shit years ago. Did 6 months in county fighting the case. While there it was eye opening. There were guys who were willing to stay in county 3, 4 and 5 years for murder charges because they knew how to make people forget shit and of course, the judges throw cases out for lack of PC. It was like family reunion in there for most of these guys. They would not plan on how to make their lives better but they would plan together on how to organize their next crimes. And the sadder aspect of this was that most of the men preferred being locked up because they did not have to actually raise their kids. They got fed,the sticky buns came in on Friday, sure you get some visitors, and then there were the guards. The guards would let the connected ones use cell phones, bring in real food, even drugs and sex. No lie. It is insane but thats the prison industrial complex for you. The really bad guys get the breaks but the person trying to do better, if you cannot afford a decent lawyer you are fucked.

Little birdie at 35th overheard that Jerry McCarthy left the comp stat meeting this week because of the lack of activity from patrol officers. He told the command staff "if you can't make the beat cops get contact card I want you (brass) out there making street stops." The room of brass was terrified as most haven't come in contact with a citizen on the street their entire career.

Suspicious package confirmed to be box of bunnies

Sunday, August 23, 2015 12:26 am

"A report was made...regarding a cardboard box left in a parking lot next to the Smalley Center.

"When police arrived, they saw the box had "do not approach" written on it and decided not to take any chances.

"After calling the Tippecanoe County Bomb Squad who disrupted the box with a water cannon, police determined that the box was empty. Purdue Police Chief John Cox later confirmed that the box was actually intended to keep some bunnies safe from cars and students.

"Purdue Police Chief John Cox later confirmed that the box was originally placed by a few students...

"She and some other friends had found some bunnies and didn't want them to get run over," Cox said. "And so they put the bunnies under the box and wrote 'do not approach.'"

"No bunnies were harmed in the investigation."

The problem isn't the thoroughly corrupt, eye-wateringly incompetent,
money-making haven and rest home for the bomb tossing 1960's Leninist-Trotskyite
activists who changed their stripes, (but not their anti-Police/anti-Society thinking & rhetoric)
purchased respectability (with the aid of local media) and sent their younger party cadre to
law school (Loevy, PLO, Bowman et al.) so they could undo the legal system, undermine The Police
via false narrative (Innocence Project) and have an avenue for creating wealth for themselves and
funding for their movement through the filing of pernicious legal actions on behalf of guilty-as-sin
clients...

The problem IS you out-of-control Chicago Coppers still insisting on upholding your
Grand-Parent's law and order by being hunters and destroyers of bad men for the good
of society.

They want you to be smiling, non-threatening Public Safety Customer
Service Concierges handing out receipts when you get out of the car
to fill your mandatory quota of "Good Touches" to provide fuel for the
greedily burning fires of Compstat.

They're nervous...
They KNOW that BY LAW you're only required to respond to radio
assignments for service. But damnit... They want to mandate some
kind of "numbers based activity" by which to evaluate you for "efficiency."

It's to keep you wild-assed Coppers from rightfully starving the Compstat
beast while giving the public exactly what they've been begging for.

You see... you Chicago Coppers are being punished because of your
consistent refusal to buy in on what your New York betters are peddling.

Just outlast these New Yuck morons...
They're pissed because it's taking much longer
than anticipated to steamroll you L.E. rubes
from Chicago.

Hooray for hard-headed Mid-Western sense and sensibilities.

Those are the only things keeping this city from being

A senior Chicago police commander in charge of a major unit operating out of the controversial Homan Square police warehouse has resigned...

Nicholas Roti, the chief of the bureau of organized crime, resigned from the Chicago police department last week, Chicago police public affairs officer Mike Sullivan told the Guardian...

Roti took charge of the organized crime division in 2010... the organized crime bureau was cited by the Chicago police "fact sheet" released on 1 March, attempting to refute the Guardian's reporting about a complex where 11 people thus far have told the Guardian they were effectively disappeared.

"Sensitive units housed at the [Homan Square] facility include the Bureau of Organized Crime (including the narcotics unit)," the fact sheet reads.

If true, they can start with the late car 2200-0800 for us midnight guys with families or part time jobs. currently, the latest start time they proposed I think was 2100-0700. Nothing worse than now working the 4-2 early car getting off in the morning and twiddling your thumbs wasting time because court starts in 3 hours. Or you have a 10 o'clock traffic call, waste 4 hours. Can't go home and sleep for an hour and drive back to 26&cal. Have to sleep in your car in the parking lot. Sucks. Best was the old 6-2 late car from 0000-0800, went right to court afterwards, judges as a courtesy would call the midnight officer cases first. No wasting time. I'd rather have that time before work with my family. The 9p.m. Start time is too early.

Sadly I agree, but not just there in Washington D.C. but also in our own department. Go ask your fellow coworkers what elements you need in order to do a Terry Stop. You will get all sorts of answers. Ask what is reasonable suspicion? Ask for examples. Ask once you have initiated a Terry Stop then what is probable cause to arrest? You'll be shocked. Ladies and gents cameras are every fucking where. Sharpen up your skills. If you call up the law department at the academy and ask them for booklets on the basics of search and seizures then they will be more than happy to provide it for you.

Hi, I've been a longtime reader, but this is the first time I am posting a comment. I'm pretty sure this is off-topic as well, but I feel like I need to say something. You're not going to hear about it on the news, because in the grand scheme of things what happened to me today was a very minor matter. It was no small matter to me, though, and the police officers who responded didn't view it as a small matter either.

Without going into too many specifics, I deal with the public. I deal with idiots on a daily basis, and I have gotten pretty good at de-escalating issues before things get out of hand. Today was not one of my better days. Today I felt threatened, frightened, and actually afraid for my safety. I ended up calling security at my place of work, and the CPD were called. What ultimately ended up happening was a non-criminal complaint-- non-criminal because the guy didn't actually threaten to kill me. But the officers who responded were kind, funny, and seemed to genuinely care that I felt genuinely afraid of the person who accosted me.

Unfortunately I do not know the officers' names. I work on the West Side, the Medical District, and things are pretty bad there. My situation could have been handled differently-- they could have seen me as just an hysterical female, but they didn't. I was not hysterical-- freaked out, yes-- but they completely understood. SCC, it's possible you may know the officers who helped me today. I'll be happy to let you know the details if you want to email me. I would love to thank the officers again, simply for making me feel so much better after a bad situation.

I don't come from a cop family. I am not the kind of person who goes looking for trouble in any way, shape, or form. I just go to work, try to make a living, and keep a roof over my head. Part of that jobs does include dealing with idiots-- but I've never come across anyone as malevolent as I did today. What you police have to deal with makes me shake my head and appreciate you all the more. I can't imagine doing what you guys and gals do for a living-- and have to take so much crap from society on top of all of it.

I just want to say thank to all of you who work the streets, and an especially big thank you to the two officers who came out today to help me deal with my situation. No one is going to hear about this if I don't say something. I am not newsworthy. But I am deeply grateful for the men and women who do what they can to keep us safe. Thank you.

Judge overhauls troubled Ferguson, Missouri, court Aug 24 (Reuters) - A new municipal judge in Ferguson, Missouri, on Monday ordered sweeping changes to court practices
1. all arrest warrants issued in the city before Dec. 31, 2014 be withdrawn;
2. Defendants will receive new court dates along with options for disposing of their cases, such as payment plans or community service. Fines may be commuted for indigent people;
3. U.S. Department of Justice strongly criticized city leaders in its report, saying the police force and court worked together to exploit people in order to raise revenue;
4. if an arrest warrant is issued for a minor traffic violation, the defendant will not be incarcerated, but will be released on their own recognizance and given another court date;
5. many people who have had drivers licenses suspended will be able to obtain them and start driving again;
6. Justice Department launched its investigation into Ferguson's police department and municipal court after the Aug. 9, 2014 shooting death of 18-year-old Brown by white police officer Darren Wilson;
7. the above changes included Judge Ronald Brockmeyer who resigned after being criticized in the Justice Department report on the basis of complaints of mistreatment of blacks by police!

No wonder when I walked into traffic court today the hallways and court rooms seemed rather emptied! very little traffic motorists attending traffic court along with the usual traffic lawyers!....Hmmmm! but the sitting judge offered the ticketed motorist $194.00 fine in exchange for 1 year supervision with not more than 2 supervision outcomes during a one year period following this plea of guilty for one moving violation! Crook County and CHIRAQ still up to no good !

Is it true that Gulliford is retiring this year and Commander Lott from 020 is taking his spot. She's a great boss and the working police but has only been a commander for a few months.

Are you smoking crack?

7:37 p.m- no not a citizen but been here a while. Copper that knew him from previous incidents recognized the him from the surveillance photo on tv. I work on that campus for a side job (not security) and constantly spot shady jagoffs roaming around there among the young naive kids (most not from chicago) like wolves waiting for an opportunity. I put a stop to two incidents between crackheads and students before it escalated this month alone. Depaul needs to tell these kids to be more vigilant but won't because they're parents would flip after what they pay for tuition. The security clowns they have are an absolute joke too! I was walking down Sheffield wearing a button up work shirt and jeans, took the shirt off because I was hot as hell and was wearing a daygo underneath. Tired from work and not thinking about my pistol in my back waistband until I got to the car. For two blocks a Depaul security goof walked 20 feet behind me and "didn't seem to notice". Then again, unarmed,10 bucks an hour, don't know that I would either lol

Can you please stop with the CCL and FOID comments, we get it already!

But does anyone else?

Mr. McCarthy thinks it's important enough to front out Concealed Carriers when they lawfully exercise their Right to protect themselves because the police can't and won't be everywhere at once. So in the interest of being fair, we feel it's completely appropriate to comment that certain people, namely criminals, don't bother to follow the rules and laws put in place by the nanny-state.

You don't want us to be fair? Are you racist?

/sarcasm off

Thank You SCC.

Funny how something repetitive , that's not on the Demorat Lib agenda would bother people. Funny how a misnomer like Gun Crime continues , when if fact it's a Gang Crime problem

I just want to say thank to all of you who work the streets, and an especially big thank you to the two officers who came out today to help me deal with my situation. No one is going to hear about this if I don't say something. I am not newsworthy. But I am deeply grateful for the men and women who do what they can to keep us safe. Thank you.

8/24/2015 08:11:00 PM

Thank you. You don't know how far a compliment like that goes. Believe it or not, YOU are why most of us got on the job. Calls like yours, with a nice person needing assistance, make our day too.

Write a letter to Garry with the date and time. The Department will track down the coppers and put the nice letter in their file.

I think the average time on the job over there is 2.5 years. Go to branch 48 and listen to some of the stellar paper they write, it's not always the judges fault.

51 OCD officers sue to recover lost wages for checking email and taking phone calls while off duty. Really? These are the same guys with the take home cars and 6 hour days. Same guys who rarely put slips in for a day off. Same guys who get tons of OT already. Come on! If it was one or two guys I'd understand. But 51 complainants. How about you fix the swipe card box at the door and make sure these guys do 8 for 8 for starters? And leave the squads in the parking lot and they can drive their personal vehicles to and from work. And while you're at check those BB and make sure there is no personal phone calls and text messages. Bitches try pushing a beat car for 9 hours. They be calling their clout before their first tour was over.

8/24/2015 02:29:00 PM

And this sergeant who is in "fat city" making the cash, gets a plum airport position and he talks like he did all this work pleeeez!

Our culture was to answer our phone, on or off duty," testified Sgt. Lawrence Stec, who worked in the narcotics division for several years. As for why he didn't file for overtime for off-duty BlackBerry time: "We just didn't do it. It wasn't our culture."

ok so not "your culture" but now it is?? Plum spots to all the bosses great retirement jobs double pensions Roti'O'Grady, how many more? That is a great job but you want more!!

I have over 25 years on the job . .

I would like to advise everyone to be smart and bring there own lunch to work and eat in the station.

If you don't have time to make a lunch go to a place like Subway where you can see them make the food IN FRONT OF YOU. Then.. take it to go and eat in the station or the car in a safe place.

Most of you have no idea what they are doing to your food when you order it... take my advise.. most of these people HATE us... NEVER EVER trust anyone making your meal when they know you are the police.

BEST SARCASM EVER............... Plus His FOID musta been revoked after the first go round right ?

I am sure if we had just 1 or 2 more super strict gun laws in Chiraq it would have stopped the whole thing right.

Back to the whole laws and enforcement issues...........

But never let the facts get in way of your agenda right ?

Well, considering the land of 007 tac is a learn-it-yourself-the-hard-way-kid environment full of clout baby leadership who can't tell the difference between north and south, and since the new good lieutenant annihilated the teams and forced out every single officer with any time on who could pass knowledge down to the younger guys who just want to learn and work, yes, it makes sense the paper isn't always air tight. But hey, the overtime is incredible. Squad, can I have an event number for a gambler mission?
