Charges for Assailant

  • A 16-year-old boy who was shot by Chicago Police Friday evening in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side has been charged.

The teen was charged as a juvenile with aggravated assault of a peace officer with a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon, according to Chicago Police. His name was not released because of his age.

Englewood District tactical officers patrolling in the 1600 block of West 71st Street about 7:30 p.m. Friday saw a group of males standing in the alley and, as they approached, one teen ran away while holding his side, according to a statement from police.

The officers gave chase and during the pursuit the teen turned and pointed a gun at the officers, prompting one to shoot him, police said.

A “young male adult” was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, according to Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Frank Velez.

A weapon was recovered at the scene and no officers were injured in the shooting, police said.
Notice how the media calls him a "16-year-old boy" while the CFD brass correctly calls him a "young male adult." We'd also add "multiple felony arrestee and veteran of the system" to be more accurate.

You can bet that no CPD "leader" would dare say anything like this:

"You start pointing guns at us, you can not only plan on, but you can guarantee we're going to shoot you"

- Polk County, Florida Sheriff Grady Judd

There is a handy three-day supply of these. Call 911 for refills, 24 hours.

The lesson here is, uh, not sinking in, is it?

OK Anita - let's see if you're pro-police on this case since we know that Ms Foxx (aka Mosby)'will use this situation to invoke the too many blacks in jail mantra. This yute is a prime example of one who should be adjudicated as an ADULT. Hope your ASA asks the judge to transfer the case to the Criminal Courthouse!!

Doesn't matter if he is tried as a juvenile or an adult. He isn't going to learn either way. Punishment is not severe enough or long enough.
Ask yourself this, if he does 10 months or 10 years, do you really think he will never pull a gun on a police officer again?
