Blue Mass

  • Uniformed police officers sat scattered through a "Blue Mass" on Sunday morning at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood.

The special service dedicated to the 572 Chicago police officers who have died while performing their duties in the history of the department was followed by the dedication of a St. Michael the Archangel statue, the patron saint of police. The deaths also include causes like heart attacks and car crashes.

In his homily, city police chaplain the Rev. Dan Brandt reminded officers that they were doing God's work.

"And for that fact, we thank you," Brandt said.
Thank You.

Finally some Roman Catholic officials doing positive, traditional things instead of Liberation Theology cultural Marxism.

I'm afraid the new Pope (featured on the cover of the Rolling Stone) is the worst ever, is mouthing off about leading large bands of illegal alien, undocumented across our Southern border , then it s up to Chicago.

Dear 022 , what is the story with the Prima Donna on 3rd watch with the initials DD? It seems that he does anything he wants and does not follow any General Orders. Is he related to Rahm?

Please chime in, some of us would like to know who he is connected to.

Well...

It's been said that it is far better to be the beloved of God
than to be the beloved of men...

We like to think of God as steadfast and eternal.

We KNOW men are fickle and temporal.

All you need to do is to have your eyes wide open
so you can see who the dirty m/fers are who hold
themselves up as our "betters."

You know... The ones who fancy themselves as the elite
and the smartest ones in any room they choose to stand.

The trend setters...
The political and financial fixers...
The agenda drivers...

And as we saw in this recent past election?
The "PLAN Havers."

You know, the ones who take every opportunity to cynically laugh up their sleeves at our
cares and concerns, and the cares and concerns of all upright, clear-eyed people.

When we have a medium by which we can voice those cares and concerns, there is a loud cry
and furtive behind the scenes movement to "take down" that medium because the notion of
"mere public servants" voicing their concerns is roundly condemned as rebellion, a breach
of our oath of office and a violation of our conditions of employment.

What other profession is on the business end of so much "Sit down and shut up?"

What is it that has the rest of everybody else so concerned about what Policemen have
to think and say about the ongoing state of affairs?

Just some idle thoughts.

Remember...
The Police are the problem.
Right?

Thanks for speaking up for us Father Brand.
As we've come to know, The Policeman has
no friends and must conduct himself as such
for his own survival.

Personally, I want to thank the dedicated units that assisted Fr. Dan at the Blue Mass, to wit: the Knights of Columbus and the Chicago Police Honor Guard.
This, in addition to the various members that gave of themselves to attend this Mass including our beloved SCC.

As Fr. Dan reminded those that serve on a daily basis,...
"Don't Forget Who You Really Work For."

Stay Safe and God Bless ALL our fellow 'First Responders.'

Looks like that Trib article is behind a paywall. Here's a link to the Sun-Times story on the Blue Mass.

http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/7/71/845134/fallen-police-officers-blue-mass

And it seems Fr. Dan shares your sarcastic sense of humor there SCC...

(from the article) He also encouraged them to do the right thing, instead of being beholden to departmental politics. He said their real boss is not a sergeant or a lieutenant or Supt. “Garry McCarthy, much as you all love and adore him.”

"Grant that I may not so much seek to be understood, but seek to understand..."

Great post, BCP.

Heard a news story on the radio but can't track it down further -- Crown Point, Indiana has an initative for decent folks to put a blue bulb in the porch light and leave it on all night as a tribute. They said you cannot find a blue light bulb in stores around there at all right now.

Same thing happened in a town near Ferguson after the foolitness there.

Take heart -- more friends than we know.

Today is National Night Out. Perfect night to do it. Porch lights on (as in 'take back the night') and if they're blue, so much the better.
