Remember - Chicago is Broke

But someone coming home from court to day saw this going up on Roosevelt Road:

Those were being placed on light poles up and down Roosevelt, dozens upon dozens. This, in a neighborhood that if we aren't too far off the mark, has accounted for nearly 2,500 homicides and tens-of-thousands of maimings during our careers.

No money for pensions, but Rahm can decorate one of the most violent neighborhoods in Chicago, in Illinois and in the United States.

Stop the Madness, Rahm. Stop Flying banners from light poles....the city can't afford it...not even Commonwealth Edison spends that kind of money for 'nothing'. And stop the freaken side show buy saying "No" to the Fire-in-the River event. Get the pension mess cleared up.

Then we should get COPVILLE banners in some neighborhoods in 016 and 008.

Not just the sings, but the light poles look new too.

How much money was wasted... errr... uuhhh... Spent, on the "New and Improved" intersection on Roosevelt from State to Indiana? Siphoning traffic from three lanes down to one when the bus is blocking one lane.

Then there's the bike lanes taking up a lane of traffic.

Funny, I still see WAY more cars than bikes downtown. And at $75 to $125 for a city sticker, plus the tax on gas, I'd be making things a little more convenient for cars, rather than bikes.

Why spend money to beautify a neighborhood that the residents take zero pride in maintaining? There is garbage everywhere. I have seen countless times mopes on the corner finish their bag of chips and throw the bag on the ground 3 feet away from the garbage can. Lawns aren't mowed and are filled with weeds. Apartment hallways filled with broken glass and empty dope bags.

Highlights from FOP meeting yesterday:
Mr. Angelo speech:
-says he was misquoted in the paper but admitted everyone needs to "share" (pension debt). Never explained how non-property owners will "share".
-avoided question and never gave a definition of "non-discressionary personnel" in the comp time agreement. (Doesnt everyone "share" already with taxes?)
-says the "15%" elective time off (Dean's agreement) has problems. Never addressed why he signed off on it.
-Sabich from 009 knew more about this agreement than dean.
-refused to identify the person in HR/MLAS by name.
-denied negotiating pension with Emanuel but when asked if Emanuel is lying, "No".
-Admitted he hasn't submitted any new legislation, even though he campaigned on it.
-said if you want a by-law change, you have to see him and he will help write it.
-cameras coming to 015 next.
-admitted to being a witness to part of Shields lawsuit.
-was told not to mediate and to sue Shields for lossed overtime. (Everyone agreed).

Ray speech:
-same old cheerleading, "we are all blue" blah, blah.
-did not answer the medical question he was asked and said you can read the general order on burning c.u. when on medical.

The bald treasurer guy:
-yelled at coppers, as usual.
-the tax forms with salaries of everyone will be released next month. (Will we see if dean's news column is true that he makes $70k less.)

Bella:
-pension coalition in Springfield.
-casino, 4 years to build, bigger than Rivers, bill for police/fire.

Violent crime wise, try the same within a miie radius of Garfield Park. Remember that parts of 011 (Fillmo') include West and East Garfield Park, the south end of Humboldt Park, Austin east of Cicero Ave. and a strip of North Lawndale north of Roosevelt Rd.

While you'd never find me unarmed on the West (011 and 015) and South Sides, I'd feel slightly safer in 007, aka "Chiraq".

As a CPD retiree, I recently moved to unincorporated DuPage County. My biggest stressor is no longer the roving bands of feral predatory "Scandinavian" youth. Now my biggest concern is to avoid driving over "Bambi" at dawn and dusk. The distant Chicago 'burbs are another world. Like almost all other cities with first responders, active officers (and firefighters) should not have residency requirements. If you're young enough for another career, cash in and get out. Today, only a damn fool, an otherwise unemployable moron or an empty-holstered, paper shuffling clout baby would take this job. With clout, morale is understandably nonexistent.

Face it. The death knell for Chicago sounded under the "reign" of that corrupt rat bastard Daley. May he and his enabling spouse burn in Hell.

BREAKING NEWS IN 011.

It seems that Commander Barb(aka lil hitler) is up to her old tricks from her days in IAD and illegal 1st amendment investigations..

It seems that since LT KJ left days and went to the tact team there was an opening on 2nd watch for a lt. Lt AB decides to bid for the 2nd watch spot. Commander Barb (aka Lil hitler)gets wind of this and decides that she will move the 3rd watch Lt Dany H-M to days so she can have complete control over the 2nd watch. The 3rd Watch LT Dany H-M owes Lil hilter as she nominated her for MERIT LT due to her strong leadership abilities and vast Police Experience. Lt Hitler wants to run 011 with an Iron fist while standing on her milk crate and dares anyone to defy her.

Chicago is not broke. Chicago has money and taxing options. Anyone who compares Chicago to Detroit is an idiot.

From a speech at the Chicago club yesterday

Chicago is the third-largest city in America. It’s nothing like Detroit. Chicago is a real city. There are people. There are jobs. There are solutions. There’s growth. If anything, the Loop is too crowded. It’s a completely different ballgame.”

Silly banner on a phony "antique" light pole; base of the thing is two thin die castings zip-tied together, will come off if you give it a good kick.

Add in the iron gratings and trees and bumps and flower-planted street obstructions and "sculptures" and skateribbons and bike lanes no one will use and "312 trails" on old railroad R.O.W. through dangerous isolated areas, and you get some very small idea of how this city p___es away the money it says it doesn't have.

Definition of POTEMKIN VILLAGE --

: an impressive facade or show designed to hide an undesirable fact or condition

: a pretentiously showy or imposing façade intended to mask or divert attention from an embarrassing or shabby fact or condition.

Etc.

Now let's go yell about nothing at the top of our lungs, and bust bottles all over the street, and shoot at some ambulances. After that, we can spray-paint 50 garages, and then hurl a chunk of concrete through someone's window and smash a sleeping baby's head.

"Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo

slightly off-topic but doesn't our government appear to be less of a democracy and more like medieval style feudalism, when things like this are bragged to the public: if you are an alderman and are an ally of the mayor, you get a plum job as chairman of a committee. the article even says these jobs are supposed to be picked by the council members themselves. aren't the executive and legislative branches supposed to be separate, and one not be subordinate to the other? How about the money used for bike lanes down Vincennes ave. Last year, Rahm had the lanes changed from four down to two with those reflective posts cutting off the other two lanes for bikes. I work in 22 and have never seen a bike in the bike lanes. After last winter, the bike lanes could not be plowed and were full of garbage so Rahm found the money to pull out all the reflective posts. Last week, he had city crews out there painting the street once again with new bike lanes that mess up traffic once again. What a joke, some friend of Rahm is making a mint on this.

I know there are some out and out racists among us, I hear it often. Times have changed and we need to change with them, not stay in the past like our fathers. Tiny Dancer heard cries from neighborhoods, so he is doing a little for them. Chuy would have been a terrible commie pinko Mayor, lets face it, his promises were all lies. Our concern is with Dean Angelo and our pension issues, being safe and going home to our families. If you can make the money, make it and save/invest it. For those of you sticking out your necks to bring down crime, the current powers that be don't want their voters arrested, they just want violent crime down a litte. Face reality and read between the lines. Be safe and save!!!!!

OMG! I think I just figured out Rahm's strategy and it is a frightening doomsday scenario.

Rahm does not have t have the City of Chicago DECLARED BANKRUPT, all he has to do is MAKE CHICAGO BANKRUPT.

How many of those piss-bums begging for change you see every day actually have a court recorded bankruptcy on file but they are bankrupt none the less.

Remember some months ago how some people noted that the city was consulting with the law firm who handled Detroit's bankruptcy. And remember how the city was quietly having liens placed on all municipal properties.

Now Rahm is spending money on everything he can to make sure there is nothing in the coffers to finance the pensions of “those greedy cops and firemen”. When the bills for the pensions come due Rahm may just say, “So sue me.”

There will be nothing there. All the money has been spent, there will be no reserves, and any tax money coming in will support basic services. All the municipal properties will have liens already placed on them by clouted so they can’t be seized.

Finance the pensions, if put to a referendum would the homeowner/voters elect to almost double their real estate taxes or the catered-to constituents want to lose any of their freebies.
So who is going to sue for what? The FOP “leadership” has been bought off and the Pension Board will be powerless. Certainly not Hillary and probably not any Republican federal administration would ever proceed criminally against the Chicago Demo-communist Criminal Family for malfeasance of office.

It’s all about who get paid and who doesn’t. And Rahm doesn’t want to pay people who don’t vote and wouldn’t vote for him.
BTW, all you cops who voted for Rahm because you said that Chuy didn’t have a plan to save our pensions. How are you feeling about now?

SPEND, RAHM! SPEND!

"A controversial CTA project to route the Brown Line onto a ramp over other elevated trains in Lakeview has been expanded in scope and would cost roughly $570 million, instead of $320 million, a CTA analysis released Tuesday said.

"The minimum four-year project, opposed by some residents will also disrupt rail service during off-peak hours and on weekends, as well as bring increased noise, dust, traffic delays and other inconveniences to the neighborhood." ["Inconveniences" like being thrown out of your apartment, having your business destroyed, having your home torn down.]

"The CTA has not secured funding for construction of the bypass flyover bridge, which is part of the transit agency's overall Red and Purplemodernization project, estimated to cost $4.7 billion. Chicago is not broke. Chicago has money and taxing options. Anyone who compares Chicago to Detroit is an idiot.

"From a speech at the Chicago club yesterday

Chicago is the third-largest city in America. It’s nothing like Detroit. Chicago is a real city. There are people. There are jobs. There are solutions. There’s growth. If anything, the Loop is too crowded. It’s a completely different ballgame.”

Do you really expect someone to say, publicly, on the record and for all bond holders to hear, "Well, we're up shit creek without a paddle, so poach what you can, and move along."

What's that old cliche? Never say never.

They just announced that Riot Fest 2015 will be held in Douglas Park, so you've got to class the joint up a bit for the concert goers. Will it help the neighborhood ? Well, there'll be plenty of food vendors and small business entrepreneurs in for that week. Maybe they'll see opportunity in that area ? It can't hurt. And if it's a failure then someone else will want to host.

Don't forget Rahm has major plans to reconfigure Ashland Avenue near his residence.

His hubris is amazing. He learned nothing from the election and run-off. He is confident that if the going gets tough the Clintons will parachute him back to D.C. before his term expires. Sometimes, it seems that he is purposefully avoiding making decisions because he does not intend to be in Chicago much longer.

"I'll tell you that the die cut on that vinyl sign cost a little bit extra money than one without a die cut. But not enough to make a difference either way when compared to the cash involved with even just one pension."

5/20/2015 10:01:00 AM

Disingenuous. Not talking about just one sign, and you know that perfectly well. Not just the screwed-up pensions, either. Talking about millions, tens of millions, hundreds of millions of dollars in waste and theft and nepotism and kickbacks and corruption and set-asides for the hooked-up in all walks of public life.

The truly needy and elderly need to eat too. The RahmRaunerLLC plan is, as one lady said, "balanced upon the backs of the poor." Graphic designers should be way at the bottom of the list when there are potholes to be fixed and traffic signals to be repaired. Now there is a big problem with graft, cost overruns, etc. just with People's Gas installing new gas lines so we don't get blown up in the middle of the night. One God-damned thing after another.

First things first -- some other things possibly never. Don't have the money.

At the front of a park (CPD) in 016 there were three banners proclaiming the name of the park on the street light posts just above the sign that has the park name on it. The weather shredded the banners so nothing is left. The posts have not been painted in 35 years that I know of. They still have the red primer paint. The park also has Christy Webber landscaping coming to water the plants with a water truck even though there is a water spigot on the park building. Why can't the CPD maint. do this? Check out Weber on the Il. Bd. of Elections to see how much money she gives the dems.

Moreover, the flyover's $570 million portion of that total could rise because of inflation if the project doesn't start as planned in 2017, according to the new analysis..."

Hey now!

At least a reknown cut-throat like Gasparilla had the decency to at least wrap 2 fathoms of chains around his waist and fling himself into the deep blue when the jig was up...

These decaying alive fucks flying the JP Morgan and affiliated flags HAVE bent the laws of this land to their whim with their money and influence.

There will be no legal sanction against them and fuckers like Rahm, whom they have plugged into elected office to secure THEIR interests only.

Remember how they bitched and cried about the Stimulus as originally intended?

"Don't give the taxpaying churls that money!
Give it to US and we'll pass on the savings
to them..."

Heh...
Y'all know what happened after that.
Right?

Punishment will have to come at the hands
the people.

Buccaneer style.

Sail for deep blue with the offending asses in
secure custody.

Herd them up on the deck where a sail is laid out
and use sharp pointy things to encourage their
standing in the middle of it.

Chain them together.
Sew them up in the sail.

Kick the squirming, yelling, crying
shit stained bundle of misery
overboard.

Let's see I we can lure a few members
of local media to join in the fun.

3 hour cruise an' shit...

As far as a Lt. denying Timedue for lack of activity make sure you submit your slip at least 7 days in advance. Submitted 7 or more days in advance C/U & BFD's go by senority. They also have 72 hours to deny you; they are supposed to write "denied per manpower issues" and give you a copy. If anyone with less time than you is off with C/U & BFd's then that is a pretty easy beef to prove. (PDays 10 days in advance go first). Know your contract....
