School Scandal Deepens

  • Chicago Public Schools chief Barbara Byrd-Bennett is taking a paid leave of absence in the face of a federal investigation that subpoenas show is taking a broad approach in its search for information about the district's decision to award a $20.5 million no-bid contract.

Chicago Board of Education Vice President Jesse Ruiz, an attorney and former chairman of the Illinois State Board of Education, was appointed interim CEO. Ruiz and school board President David Vitale were among officials that voted 6-0 in 2013 to approve a contract to the SUPES Academy training organization that is at the heart the federal inquiry.

We don't know what you think, but it is our experience that people don't take "leaves" unless the feds have them dead-bang. In fact, the feds don't usually announce investigations unless they're hoping to get someone to talk in the face of an upcoming dead-bang indictment.

You have to love the fact that the next two guys in charge also voted for this crooked ass deal.

Where there is smoke, there's fire. But really, you guys have no idea how corrupt and how much waste there is with CPS and its connected contracts. I'd love to share what I know and have seen first-hand, but I am just a low-level cog on the ring, and I would put the livelihood of myself and quite a few others in jeopardy. Further, we don't know the ins and outs of the contracts, just that the work many of these contractors were hired to do was never done.

We need an elected school board and park district board. I know this will not get rid of corruption, but these are two bodies with the ability to levee and increase property taxes. This is taxation without representation, which was a partial cause of a little something we call the Revolution. Rahm and Daley before him would claim they didn't raise property taxes, the whole while their hand picked boards were.

This is a huge problem in the CPS! God forbid we infringe upon their rights to a free education. I work for cps and I've been saying that they have a right to a free and equitable education. Once they voluntarily refuse to utilize their opportunities (I would give them 2 F's per four years in summer/night school) I would tell them they squandered the opportunity, you want to stay, charge them tuition so the city recoups the money spent on said goofball. People waive/refuse their rights all the time. Nothing illegal about tossing them out or using alternative (GED) programs.

First, paid leave is a misnomer. She's using unused vacation days. Most news outlets are neglecting to mention that, which was the second sentence behind 'paid leave' in the press release.

Second, we have this thing called 'due process'. So, no, she's not a criminal until she's adjudged to be a criminal. Your opinion doesn't enter into the equation.

Removing her from a decision-making role was the right thing to do. I'm sure the Feds will see the rest of the process through and you can call her a criminal once she's found guilty. You would want the same courtesy if you were the accused person.

Meanwhile, nobody is saying shit about those awful financial/investment vehicles sold to CPS by the same 1%-er banking/investment/finance crooks who obscenely financed Rahm's re-election so that they can continue to steal/obscenely profiteer as they have for years under Daley?

Fuck all that other noise...
THESE are the m/fers who are too big to fail.

There WILL be NO Fed-Gov take down of these corrupt bastards.

The teachers WILL continue to be vilified because their pensions are viewed as sweet honey-pots that Rahm, Rauner and the whole array of 1%-er money conjurers want to get their hands on but not quite yet because people now see these m/fers intent with crystal clarity.

This agit-prop shit show (Fling! - SPLAT! Hey look at dat!) about so called greedy teachers refusing to take a haircut to "help" fix this mess not of their making, has been cheered on by local media. Hence all the energetic pantyless cartwheels by the likes of Steinberg, Spielman, Brown et al...

"We don't do expulsions anymore."

Something about they're mandated to warehouse these disruptive fuckers until they turn 21?

Teachers can't teach because of these assholes.
Children can't LEARN because of these assholes.
An environment non-conducive to learning because of these assholes and the rattle-mind progressive thinking that keeps them in place.

Worked some schools and without fail, you would see the same assholes doing the fool/sitting in the principal's office and other stupid shit.

And school staff would give us the eeeevil eye because we refused to "help them" with these
little assholes.

"Help" meaning putting Police hands on the little darlings for a disciplinary problem/breach of school rules...

"Catch him! He RAN from ME yesterday!"
Let that ignant m/fer run... He'll get tired after a while.

They want "help" with these six foot, 200 pound, DNA already in play (both male and female) two legged feral mules already highly experienced in fighting and fucking? Eating, sleeping and the quest for a safe dark corner to take a shit in notwithstanding...

You KNOW how it will end.

The second you blast a crater in the floor and they see that oversized "child" sitting in it with just their head and their feet sticking out, suddenly that PO-leece help is a big fucking problem as that school staffer is NOW a prosecution witness.

"I seent what dat ossifer done!"

Sorry... No laws broken = Hands off.
Order in your schools are a function of STAFF.
Police in schools for presence.

Fix the built in theivery in the CPS budget and hire CIVILIAN truant officers so Policemen won't have to
be aggravated with the sure to follow foolishness.

They hate it when you stay true to the Police mission and can articulate where the law and common sense dictates where your duties begin and end.

I didn't realize how Chicago really worked until I was sitting at restaurant one day with a family member who owned a small business. U know what, SCC, WTF happens to the Unwelcome Crew of Cops from the Old 019 at Bel/Wes? We had our own thing going west of Clark and didn't realize how great we had it.
WE HAD A WATCH! They forced us over to the Island of Santorini, we didn't ask to go there. As a matter of FACT the 023 personnel treated us like shit, busted us up as partners, and played all these wonderful games on us. The mid W/S somehow was a patrolmen w/a rank between Lt and D/C.
A Copper stood up w/in the 1st year of the merge and said "We don't need any1 from 023!" and that was about the size of it.

CPS Student Residency Violations are taken seriously by CPS because if CPS catches someone's kid living outside Chicago, CPS can get money coming into their bank account.

CPS Employee Residency Violations are only looked into if the violator is deemed a troublemaker and has a past history of going against the grain or disciplinary issues as money is lost by CPS to look into employee violators.

Though, those CPS employees hired before November 20, 1996 are grandfathered in with the old residency policy and can live on the moon. And, several CPS employees are deemed need basis employees, meaning if they work in an area where CPS has a shortage of personnel, these employees can get a residency waiver to live in the suburbs, WI, or IN. However, they can only get a residency waiver if they were hired as a non-Chicago resident and they can't move from Chicago to the suburbs and request a residency waiver.

CPS Need areas for CPS are: GET THIS...PE, Counseling, Librarians, Special Education, Math, Science, and some Language teachers.

Yes, I'm sure Robert Blagojevich would wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of guilt and innocence. Then again, maybe not. (That's why judges try cases, not anonymous posters on blogs.)

My point was, the woman has not been found guilty in a court of law and her employer cannot take actions as if she HAS been found guilty. We can all 'believe' she's guilty, but that is different from a conviction.

So, since she has unused vacation days and her contract apparently allows this, she is USING them.
