Jury Gets it (Partly) Correct

It won't stop the civil suit from going forward, but it's nice to see this:
  • A South Side man who led Chicago Police on a high-speed chase after he burglarized a high school classmate’s apartment was convicted of the murder of woman who was killed when an officer crashed into her during the frenetic pursuit.

Cook County jurors were sequestered late Friday night after they couldn’t decide whether Timothy Jones was responsible for Jacqueline Reynolds’ death.

But after roughly two more hours of deliberation Saturday, the jury convicted 22-year-old Jones for the murder as well as the May 8, 2013 burglary that prosecutors said that kick-started the deadly chain reaction.
Unbelievably, this asshole was acquitted of the underlying Armed Robbery and Home Invasion charges that sparked the chase in the first place. How that happened, we have no idea.

Wonderful, High School classmates.

I wonder what they'll say to each other at the 10th HS Reunion? Because you know he'll be out by then, murder conviction or not.

The civil suit is nothing personal, it's just business. Chicago has the deep pockets for the lawyers to pick. If Jones ever had anything, his own lawyer has it all now.

Share the wealth! After all, it's just city money. It's not like it's your taxes or something.

Victim's family will sue the city because the criminal's family has no money.

First theatrics to blame the copper for doing his job, but finally the scumbag thug got his, no ghetto lottery. Go directly to jail and hopefully rot forever, to bad this thug was not killed would of saved taxpayers lots of cash keeping him fed and housed!

Amazing. I hope that some asswipe lawyer doesn't file an appeal based upon the Not Guilties.

He was found guilty of 1 count of burglary that allowed for felony murder. Most media outlets conveniently left this out as the left liberal despises felony murder and is trying to push the typical ghetto narrative of the only accountability is police accountability. Typical

You neglected to point out the neck tattoo on the "cousin" interviewed by ABC 7. "Everyone makes mistakes", eh? Good thing he understands the consequences of living by the gun.

Typical Chicago. I studied my ass off for the Canine Test yesterday and felt pretty good about it- UNTIL my old man (non police) who is childhood friends with a CPD Boss who works out of Headquarters told him that 10 dogs were ordered for this upcoming test but the strange thing is there were 8 names all ready attached to 8/10 dogs. So 400 plus took the test and are fighting for TWO legit spots of the 10???!!! The 8 are the "chosen" ones that I guess just have to pass. Work hard, study, but- you better know someone. F*ck this Department.

How did this happen you ask? For starters the jury was from the west and south sides, not Park Ridge or Wilmette...

They already have. They said they did not support the felony murder prosecution and they are going after the City regarding the chase policy.

But it was just a Burglary. Why did the police chase and run red lights and kill that lady over just this?? He would have been caught soon after. What about our Chase policy??
This should never have happened. Even in a chase you never just go right through a red light even with lights and sirens because this could happen and does happen someone could die. You , your partner or the public. Somebody's wife mother sister

Good. Just as long as they got a murder conviction. Down the road in a civil suit this will be very goo. In fact it makes it very good in a summary judgement motion for the officer. The odds this whole civil case gets tossed after a motion is really good now.

===============================

I know what you're saying but when you're the police in a pursuit, your natural reaction is NOT to let the bad guy get away.
It's easy to monday morning quarterback and say "you shouldn't have...", but put yourself behind the wheel of a squad car and it's a completely different situation. As hard as you try not to take it personal, it IS personal.
Just PLEASE look out for each other!
WE are all we have!

Looks more like the Department fucked you...I'll be they planned it that way too. Probably sought out your name on the batch of tests, sat around and said; "You know what, let's fuck this guy for no reason." That's why you didn't get chosen. It's so obvious.

Maybe your sense of entitlement isn't reality. Quit the whining, don't bother your Dad with unsuccessful inquiries, pick yourself up and try again. NOT EVERYBODY CAN BE assigned to the CANINE Unit!

Jury of their peer. You had a post about that SCC. If most citizens throw out their jury notices, they have to pick jurors out of the pool of people who send back their jury notices.

How did the original charge get dropped? My guess is victim flipped. Shithead on shithead crime is not worth the chase. Only the innocent suffer when things go bad.

Bottom line-your Dad who you disrespectfully refer to as your "old man", knew someone but that someone wasn't interested in helping you out. That someone must know you and your shit attitude. Glad you got your face rubbed into the 8 out of 10 are already chosen. And you're NOT number 9 or 10.
