St. Baldrick's Event Info

Plans are well underway for the 2015 St. Baldrick's event to be held on Friday, March 20th from 0600 - 1700 hours. Registration is open and you can go to THIS LINK HERE and choose the location you want to go to.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the south side location organizer, Bill Murphy, will not be able to help with getting an event in 022 again this year, but there is plenty of room at either the Academy or 025.

If you have any questions you can contact me at chromedome1269@sbcglobal.net or Anne Zamzow for 025 at annezamzow@yahoo.com

Thanks to all who have helped in the past and in advance for all who will be participating this year, we look forward to seeing all of you.

Until we find a cure!

Is the money even going towards a cure? Perhaps it's just another tool in the toolbox as Garry would say.

Like using the children as tools.

After all, all the administrators have to pay and empower themselves six-figures or more a year to "sacrifice" (sarc) their time for the noble cause

You see any billionaires stepping up the the plate?

Nope they setup the so-called non-profits organizations maybe...maybe...so the rest of US can donate money as they hoard their fiat paper money representing ration tickets of the worlds natural resources; as if they are God and all the natural resources all belongs to them.

You see any millionaires for example like Rahm stepping up to the plate donating any of his personal fortune? It ain't coming out of his pocket. Nope.

This society is fucked up. Fuck your money.

1:52, I'm sorry you feel so bitter and want to lump all fund raising into one category. I encourage you to check out exactly what St. Baldrick's does with the money received by going to
http://www.stbaldricks.org/grants-search/grantPeriod/current/country/US/state/IL/city/chicago/page/1/

Much of the money raised in Chicago stays in Chicago funding grants to find a cure for this terrible disease that affects too many lives.

You can also check http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=12540 for charitynavigator.com's own ranking of St. Baldrick's as a charity. I would not get behind a charity that did not put the cause first, nor would I expect anyone else to do that.

Not to put down all the "walks," "climbs," "29-mile marches," etc. -- it is a lot of "community spirit," blowin off steam, showing the flag, contacts made and old friends bumped into -- but it seems to me that anyone who wanted to help out with a good cause could just write a check...

Any decent corporation behind such an event would match contributions just the same.

While mother nature has beat St. Baldrick in my particular case, I nonetheless offer my support and gratitude to those involved in this event.
Thank you and God bless.

I have cancer and find the idea of people shaving their heads for "the cause" stupid. I just don't get it. Losing your hair is not a cause, it's a part of your disease and not to be "mocked" in solidarity. I can see shaving your head if you child has to lose her hair or your sister but randomly shaving your head just makes no sense to me. My cousin is doing it and I think she's an idiot. You want to help cancer patients, give them help with their copays because reality is, it's a huge money maker and we'll never be allowed to have a cure. $2500 for once chemo treatment. That's the cause that we should be fighting against.
