Someone is Watching the Numbers

We don't usually link to leftist websites for the usual reasons. But this time, someone is actually taking the Chicago homicide number game seriously:
  • Chicago Murders in November 2014 up 50% during the same time last November. In November 2013 there were 28 total murders. There have already been 24 murders as of November 16, 2014 with 14 more days left in the month to count.

During the month of November 2013 there were a total of 16 murders for the first part of the month. In the current month of November 2014 there have been a total of 24 reported murders a 50% increase in murders from the same time last year. Raw data was used from RedEye Tracking homicides in Chicago.

Checking if this was an anomaly. Substance News compared homicides statistics for the months of September and October to last year during the same months. September 2013 had 43 total murders compared to September 2014 which had 44 total murders a 2.33% increase. In October of 2013 there were a total of 33 murders compared to October 2014 which a total of 38 murders a 15.15% increase. The totals for both months show an upward trending murder rate of 7.89%.
They even do a little digging and come up with this little fact:
  • The Chicago Tribune has not reported a homicide on its homicide tracking website, since November 4, 2014 2:17 pm, even though there have been 14 murders since then.
Wait...let us guess...the intern in charge of inputting the Tribune homicide tracker data is on vacation? It would almost be amusing except that Rahm is running for reelection and we're betting that McJersey and CompStat are going to figure heavily in his campaign. How better to grease the skids a bit by "neglecting" to keep the public updated with current homicide stats?

We heard, but can't yet confirm, that November will be the THIRD consecutive month of homicide INCREASES on a month (2013)-to-month (2014) comparison. Not only that, someone else said that these three monthly increases have pretty much wiped out the supposed "reduction" of 2014 compared to 2013. We'll let you know how true that one is shortly.

Why worry about the number of murders? It is not like most of them were honest upstanding citizens, or pillars of the community.

The failure of the Tribune to keep a proper tally is confirmation that the Tribune is nothing but an arm of the Rahm propaganda machine.

We'll confirm as well - November will be the 3rd consecutive month of INCREASES. May as well make it 4 since August was a push with 54 vs last year's 55.

Our counting methodology puts 2014 within 3 homicides of 2013's total on this date - or just 0.7% - a rounding error.

Worse is that the number of people shot this year is already 200+ more than last year's total with 6 weeks to go.

Thank the polar vortex of Jan - Mar for shaving 5-10% off the totals, otherwise we would be talking about a 2012 repeat.

According to Chicago Redeye Homicide Tracker:

Jan 2013 - Nov 2013 Chicago had 401 murders

Jan 2014 - Nov 19th, 2014(which puts us at 27 murders for the month, Redeye only has 18 though, stopping at the 13th of the month, but Redeye usually updates daily, and mid-week after a weekend) Chicago has 384 murders (which I'm sure 2013s numbers went up after going back and adding late bodies)

Depending on what numbers you use (the city claims 415 murders for 2013, while Chicago Redeye claims 441 murders) it would take 32 or 58 more murders to surpass 2013s murder total.

When it comes to ignoring corrupt Chicago politics, the Tribune makes the old Soviet PRAVDA a credible source of complete and accurate information for the citizenry. The Sun-Times is perhaps worse.

Both rags are the propaganda organ of City Hall.

Be patient, all media outlets are foaming at the mouth ready to release their coverage of the murder numbers. It's still too early. Plus, the SEC is is beginning their investigation. Rahm screwed over too many people.

Come on, SCC, you're the police - you know that the number of murders is irrelevant and that it's the number of shootings that matter. If someone lives or dies has nothing to do with the police.

The local news outlets haven't been covering homicides for sometime now.

I suspect that they will start reporting again as soon as there is another police involved shooting.

All the gyrations, micro management, meetings, emails,
Hug-A-Thug home visits and related Comstat bullshit is NEVER going to keep ONE person from committing a violent crime. The audacity and stupidity of thinking it will is embarrassing. Only a goofy academic liberal or someone who has never been the police could believe such nonsense. The police are and always will be reactive in nature. We are not able to change the psyche of an entire culture based on violence and selfishness. Such ignorance and hubris from our "leaders".

Lol!
They have "minders" not so much to secure the guns at these agit-prop "Look at ALL these bad guns" media events, but to keep people from scanning the inventory tags... They've been busted before for misrepresenting "seized last year" guns as "seized last month" or whatever time frame they select to prop up their propaganda narrative of the day.

Hey SCC looks like you can walk around New York with a bag a weed and only get cited. I guess much like Chicago they have pretty much decriminalized marijuana. Maybe it will generate a few dollars just like it did here.

+1

Rahm pawned that off on one of his whip smart propeller-head flunkies...

Now where dat next $25K plate fundraiser at?

Rahm needs to buy targeted TV time...

How about commercials of him going door to door smooching every taxpaying ass while returning the last three years of property taxes then turning around and submitting to a kick in the ass while saying "I was wrong and I'm sorry."

>double pfft<

May he burn through every penny of his campaign fund and some of his personal wealth too.

You are correct. And then you should ask how many death investigation are there for the year? And how many of these are actually murders that won't be reclassified until after Jan '15 so the additional numbers don't show in the 2014 totals?
