Vallas Goes Full Scare Tactics

How far the reformer has fallen:
  • Gov. Pat Quinn’s running mate Wednesday predicted “devastating cuts” to education across Illinois, including an $882 million hit to Chicago's public schools, if Republican Bruce Rauner’s tax-cut plan is carried out.

  • Vallas' analysis showed Chicago, with the state’s largest school system, would face the most sizeable reduction in funds under Rauner’s plan – a loss that the Chicago Democrat said almost certainly could lead to more crippling school closures across the city, though Vallas would not specify a number.

“It means more school closings. It means major teacher layoffs. It means huge class sizes. It means more school consolidations. It means an elimination of curriculum, of supplemental educational services. It means, at the high school level, a dismantling of vocational technical education, early college programs, school-to-work programs,” Vallas said.
You mean....like the closings and layoffs that Rahm has been presiding over? Those cuts? It continues to amaze all thinking people that democrats seem to be the cause and solution to all Illinois' problems.

So what's the graduation rate for CPS? 50%?

In that case, close 50% of the schools... it won't make a bit of difference right?

Fact is, we're pissing money away on these drop out slugs because they know they're going to be well-cared for by the Gubmint...

We need to stop giving them never-ending streams of FREE, FREE, FREE STUFF, put strict limits on it, and then have long gaps before they can apply again.

Finally, if you don't have a high school diploma or GED, you ought not to be able to qualify for anything. Bank/savings accounts, credit/debit/prepaid cards, checking accounts - nope. Leasing? Nope. Renting? Nope. Buying titled property? Nope. No welfare, no free anything, not even a stay at a homeless shelter (obviously you exempt the truly retarded).

So you want to act like an asshole and drop out? Fine. Be an asshole. Get nothing.

Finally, anyone under 18 who has a kid? Let that minor's parents deal with ALL the expenses of their minor child's child. No welfare, healthcare, free pre-school, etc. Nothing.

Only then will you start to turn some of this around.

Good I hope they cut that much. Education is the sacred cow of politics. The three R's shouldn't cost billions. Countless of kids learned in a one room school house and one book. Many of those kids became great leaders, scientists and productive members of society .

Mayor Emanuel plans to give hundreds of city jobs and internships to illegal aliens because he thinks they are more literate and better trained than Chicago Public School graduates.

What amzaes me is that CPS continues with it's administrative budget yet lays off hundreds of teachers.
CPS doesn't know how to cut a budget. All they do is cut teachers because that has the largest impact that the public will see.
Hell, they just spent 5 million on new office furniture because the old furniture did not fit the buildings design elements!!!
Now, that is sad.

I can't dignify this stupidly with a response. Lot of ignorance here, hope you are both not cops, or are at least retired. Lets just cut all the police as well, they are not stopping shootings or crime (dispite comstats #'s). Cut the fucking force in half they are not doing anything anyways.

Get the schools back to basics, the three RRRs, get rid of teachers unions and cut school budgets, taxes in half. There are thrird world countries that provide better public education than the U.S.

How about just following Wisconsin's method of balancing the books. Time limits on Public aid. Wisconsin is now in the black, not the red like Illinois.

The democrats and the teachers unions of Illinois have ruined the school system. Yes, people should think about the fact that the democrats and the unions have screwed up the education system and they also claim they are the only salvation for fixing the school system. Makes a lot of sense

I would be frightened if there were a correlation between spending and student achievement, but that is not necessarily the case. The Chicago Public Schools are spending tons of money on misfits with little to show for it.

Wake up folks , don't worry about how much money rs unrest makes . Start worrying about the millions that potato head gave to neighborhood anti violence groups . All funds unaccounted for , must be nice to get paid without having to work .
Remember if you work , you are the government , democRats give away our hard earned money to these gang anti violence groups to buy votes .

The major problem is actually that the CPS is about 2/3's Administrative personnel. The front line Teachers are put in the spotlight while the blood sucking leeches in Administration are reaping the actual benefits. Sort of like our alderman do here in Chicago..and the CTA. You can streamline all of this...work within a decent budget and have the very BEST for everyone.

There are thousands of students in Chicago's public schools that should be thrown out of school. School should not be for disruptive people.

Another $10 mil down a rathole, payin people to hang on the corner like they do anyway.

We had that CEDA make-work program 20-some years ago. Give em brown coveralls and pay them to stand around the "L" station all day, so they wouldn't stand around the "L" station all day. Eventually the grant money ran out. Everything remained the same.

Remember when parents walked their kids to school? Carrying their lunch? The poor can't be bothered that foolitness today, too busy with $ nail art and $$ hair weave and $$$ smartphone he-say-she-say.

"Uh huh. Uh huh. Uh huh."

CPS to receive $10M for Safe Passage program

Posted: Aug 28, 2014 11:29 AM CST

"CHICAGO (AP) - The state of Illinois is giving Chicago Public Schools $10 million to expand a program aimed at providing safer routes to classes.

"Gov. Pat Quinn's office announced the funding Thursday through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity...

"The nation's third-largest school district started Safe Passage in 2009 after concerns rose about the safety of students traveling to and from school. It was expanded last year after the district closed dozens of schools and parents expressed safety concerns.

"The money will increase routes to the 93 schools already in the program and add 27 new schools.

"The program puts trained employees along designated routes to monitor safety."

reconstitution and school closings, and system of miraculously raising reading scores with summer school classes. He has been bounced from more school systems than Brizzard.

First of all, Chicago public teachers will vote for Quinn.

Secondly, cuts to the CPS will not affect graduation rates, enrollment, or grade point average. If throwing money at the schools did not help, taking the money away should not make a difference.

"Whohadsaidsump'n?"

Heh...

Chicago.
The other "Flying Dutchman" of democrat run urban centers.

WHOO!

The damn thing floats by and we see nothing but grinnin' skeletons littering the decks and hung all askew in the rigging.

The only living ass aboard is a raving little bulge-eyed lunatic chained to the wheel while clad in tights barking orders to the empty-eyed grinners laying all about...

Maaannn...
These funny Progressive types...

Something caught our eye years ago that was a very apt summation of these people (and folks) and their purpose.

Something to the effect of they would rather gather power and influence to rule over blasted ruins populated by the bones of good men and the distant memories of their unfulfilled dreams...

The wicked?
Flee?

Not in Chicago.
Well... Not until they vacuum up every penny Daley missed.

And when this current bunch actually decides TO flee, watch for the high powered whores and parasites fight each other for a hand hold and a spot on the running boards.

They're so desperate to stay in power that they're literally burning tax payer money by the bushel basket right before our eyes just to prove that we of our own, can't really do shit to these people... Or so they'd like to think.

Heh... Funny... People say they support The Police/Law & Order have been tongue tied for 40 years.

Now that some of the smarter ones are catching on (read as scared out of their wits at what's coming) they drop a comment here and there about "support."

It really isn't about "supporting" L.E. in this town.

It's about supporting a way of life predicated on doing what's right.

Throwing money at people to walk their own children to school as an inducement to secure democratic votes ISN'T right at all.

The clear eyed reasonable man has a problem with this sort of goings ons.
