Cops Shoot Dog, No One Snitches

  • A South Side family is angry because police shot their dog and then failed to catch an armed robber even though he was hiding out just feet from where they were standing, reports CBS 2 [...]

“I said why’d you shoot the dog?,” said neighbor Aaron Thompson. “He said I didn’t shoot the dog, the assailant shot the dog.” The dog is Castro, an Italian Mastiff who’d been in the Taylor household for ten years.

“It’s like I lost a family member…very difficult,” said Terry Taylor, the dog’s owner.

The assailant is an armed robber who had held up a man early this morning in Washington Park. Police responding to the 911 call spotted the suspect and chased him until they believed they lost him in the yard.

“The police ran in my yard, opened the gate and shot my dog,” Taylor said.
OK. Bad timing. Dog does what it's supposed to do, cop kills dog, one of those things that everyone regrets but a minor tragedy nonetheless. Then it got a bit frightening:
  • But it turns out the robber never made it into the yard. Taylor’s son found that out some three hours later when he got the surprise of his life.

“He came from under the porch. He had the gun in his hand, he was backing up talking to me like this, and he is telling me ‘I apologize for the police killing your dog, I seen the whole thing.’ He put the gun back on his hip proceeded down the street,” said DeMarkus Southern.

But not before the robber ditched his clothes in the garbage can and abandoned his baseball hat under the stairs.
Great. Gun-in-hand, the robber turns up mere feet from where the coppers were standing. This could have been bad on any number of levels. Very bad.

And finally, it gets......typical:
  • What makes the story even more bizarre is that Southern says while they were all sitting on the stairs his sister pulled up in a car. She saw a man through a crack underneath the stairs with what looked to be a hammer in his hand. That hammer was the gun.

The sister didn’t say anything because everyone seemed so calm she just assumed the guy was actually working on the stairs and had no idea he was an armed robber hiding from the police who were just steps away.

“It was shocking because it had been three hours,” Southern said. Now Southern is just glad he and his family members weren’t hurt.

Southern says the armed robber is now free because the police botched their investigation. He was last seen getting on a bus with the gun in his waistband.
Riiiiiight. The sister saw the guy under the stairs, assumed it was a "worker," but in the absence of hearing any hammering and seeing police standing feet away, just kept her mouth shut? Sorry, we call BULLSHIT on this one. Once again, "no snitching" rears its head and of course, the police are supposed to be mind readers with x-ray vision so it's all their fault.

We're left trying to decide if Channel 2 is really this ignorant (likely) or they posted this story to get a chuckle out of everyone else who actually reads between the lines. We don't think they're that deep - they just want to rile up everyone because the cops shot a dog and left a suspect under a nearby stair.

Wait for a big story about civil rights violations breaking soon. Early and late 3w roll calls in 011 have been recorded for a while now. Both LTs have been recorded telling the troops to commit civil rights violations. Telling cops to grab people off their porches and that their fence isn't a barrier you can't cross. Also recordings of LT masters putting a quota out there. The recordings also include sexist, racist, and obscene comments made by coppers to other coppers in front of LT Masters. She is fucked, LT KJ is fucked the ship is going down. Oh and to all you new guys, just because a LT or a commander tells you to do something, doesn't make it legal.

8/18/2014 11:56:00 AM

I hope this is true. Masters is going to jam up so many people. Hopefully this will make her retire. And this is true, she has no problem telling officers to violate rights. Also she lost the watch long ago, I mean officers are walking out in the middle of her roll calls or talking on their phones.she is a worthless merit havk who isn't the fucking police.

Everyone always pile on, fambly crowd up on the stoop so's the alleged "midnight carpenter" hammer a ten-penny nail up they behind from underneath.

Uh huh.

Where's the tool bucket, where's the wood? Harbor sell 500-watt work lights cheap -- nothing like that burnin under there? So "workman" could see? I always worked from the top, from the outside. No extension cords for the circ. saw?

I built stairs before -- decent people could see and hear me, how could they not. Put in whole new sills and jambs and weatherstrip and doors at 2 AM when I had to.

Not the dog's fault -- like you say, he was doing his simple dog-like job. Not the po-lice fault, when you all crowd up and sit on top the real mother__er to hide him for hours.

Get real.

What we should be,is mindful of the ten deadly errors, one being poor search or no search at all. I'm thanking our lucky stars that instead of reading about police officers being ambushed, we're reading about how inept we are which caused an armed robber to escape. Instead of criticizing the no snitch rule or the media, let's use this as a teaching moment and promote officer safety.

Anybody else getting the "don't be afraid to do your job" speech in roll call lately?? A boss felt the need to point that out amidst the Ferguson shit show that has been going on. Apparently McDrunkenWalkin'HeartAttack is interrogating these exempts about how many times one of these shitbag gangbangers has been "touched" -e.g. issued ANOV, contact carded, etc., just prior to their being involved in a shooting. Exactly how does this translate into preventing a shooting incident? If the shit bird walks up and down the street all day, not withstanding any violations, there's nothing you can do. Even so, all the anovs and cont cards in the world are not going to stop the drug dealing and shooting. I realize none of these six figure earning exempts will risk that gold braid pension to point out the obvious, but jesus don't try to feed the bs to the rest of us.

No snitching -- but tear up a black-owned beauty shop, do $70,000 in theft and damage to a black-owned pharmacy in the Ferguson area, swarm and terrorize the black employees of a McDonalds there until they have to lock themselves in the cooler, and right here go banging guns off at people's houses in the middle of the night so little kids get killed in their beds.

...but when you have an armed man coming out from under your porch, dumping clothes, and escaping, it's brotherhood time.

What can I say? This act is not together.

"This is not the time for no peace," said one man, a 27-year-old who made the trip here from Chicago.

He spoke after a small group of fellow militants held a meeting behind a looted store, sketching out ambitions for the days ahead.

"We are jobless men, and this is our job now -- getting justice," he said. "If that means violence, that's OK by me. They've been doing this to us for years."

Michael Brown’s raps: Money, sex, drugs — and a vulnerable side
By MATT HANSEN AND KURTIS LEE
AUG. 17, 2014, 5:18 P.M.
In the neighborhood around the worn Canfield Green Apartments, 18-year-old Michael Brown was known as a young man with some potential. His peers around him struggled to hold jobs and had multiple run-ins with the law, but Brown had graduated from high school and was headed for community college.

As a side note, with all of the turmoil in NY and Ferguson MO, I sure hope the boys and girls out there play it safe . Sometimes I think it is better to let someone go then to engage in a confrontation or wait for more help. I don't trust the prosecutors in any jurisdiction to do the right thing when it comes down to protecting themselves or you. I would not doubt that the NY officers are indicted as well as the officer in Ferguson just to quell the rioting of the criminal element. I am glad I am retired. My heart goes out to these cops and my thoughts are with all of you. No one but you know what you go through each and every day and the toll it takes on your health and family life.
