Wisconsin Joyriders

  • Police are seeking child neglect charges against the mothers of two boys who have stolen vehicles twice this summer and taken them for drives in the countryside north of Milwaukee.

The mother of the 9-year-old driver is the grandmother of the 4-year-old, so the two thieves are uncle and nephew, according to West Bend Police Captain Tim Dehring. Both families live in the same home.

Police are seeking a charge of child neglect against a third adult at the home, the live-in boyfriend of the mother of the 9-year-old, Dehring said.

After the latest driving incident Sunday, police officers took the two boys into protective custody, he said. "This has got to stop," Dehring said.

The move to protective custody and the request for charges against the adults are intended to reinforce that message, he said. "Our concern is for the safety of the community," Dehring said.
The community obviously doesn't really care or someone would have smacked the tar out of some 4-and-9-year-old asses.
