Only 500?

  • Cook County prosecutors said today that nearly 500 people had gathered Sunday afternoon for an unauthorized concert at Montrose Beach that turned into a melee after police officers attempted to shut it down.
Of course, theses numbers probably come from the same people who think they counted 1.1 million people at the Taste this year

"Bring back Summer Mobile"

Ok, the important questions you might want to ask are:

Where in the fuck are we getting the manpower from?
We're in Districts where you cant get a Wednesday off due to manpower shortages, an you expect to pull from there?
Units? Which ones? Narc / Gang Enforcement aren't giving any one up.

Where are we going to get the cars / wagons from? (Remember, the PAPV's are a no-go.) Look at the shitboxes that are in the Dist. not to mention VRI.

Oh, there's enough bosses to run the place. They'll always find a promising young star lt. that wants to be an exempt somewhere.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a School Patrol / Summer Mobile Unit. however, the reality is: We done have the manpower.

If we started hiring NOW. TODAY. it would still be, at the least 18 months till the Dept would begin to feel the effect of Cops on the Street.

This Tamborazo thing has been going on for at least a couple of years now. There are you tube videos of it with 2013 and 2012 dates, same weekend. I suppose this one was so much worse than the others but how is it that after 2-3 years of this unpermitted mess on the lakefront same July weekend, nobody was even remotely ready for it? Will CPD gold stars plan for it next year? I say crack down. No alcohol allowed in and no permit equals no event. And if people get out of control, I want to see sticks swinging and I want to hear the sound of walnut on bone.

That's because this is a "good" part of the city, so it needs no real police "force". You get that right? All of our resources must be deployed to the underprivileged areas to keep them from killing each other.

Isn't that a kick in the pants, underprivileged? How about over served? Out of controlled? Undeserving? I could go on.....

Back to the Taste. So 1.1M people went. AVC7 reported that Giordanos sold 33,000 slices of pizza. I would guess that Chicago deep dish pizza would be a popular item at an event like this. So how come only 3% of the people had a slice? I call BS on attendance. But, then again, it was all about Chicago. Too bad the crowd couldn't get a taste of our delicious shootings or 5 star murdering gang bangers. City is a disaster. Stay safe coppers.

Funny thing, every summer when ALL units had to give up people, cars and or wagons for the summer mobile force they said the same thing!
They always had the same people going there and the usual bosses running it. It did work...
They had a good beach party at the end of the season but with too many bosses trying to be a sponsor, it got too big and ruined the whole thing.

Rahm, you have to spend money to make money. Hire more cops. You and your predecessor have successfully depleted the CPD to dangerously low levels. The "good" high paying citizens are catching on. People are avoiding downtown and boystown.

After the shooting a couple of weeks ago as well as this incident, I'm sure that there are many boat owners who rent slips ($$$) at Montrose that are re-thinking where to get a slip next year. That is, if they still want to even live in Chicago.

Granted, it was only a few guys, but when you only have 60% of an already stripped unit, thats a lot.

If any of the genius gold stars are reading. .... this is what you do: Call CDOT, have them send yard trucks and laborers, have laborers load musical equipment and beer onto trucks, deliver cargo to impound lot to sit outside until court date. Have tow trucks tow away beer trucks. Next year they go to burbs.

The North Shore does not live off tourist income and beg people to come into their towns to vacation and spend money. THAT is the difference.

Do a little research. The CPD officers are funded by the Department of Aviation.
