One, No Wait, Four, No Wait, Eight Shot

This is just a preliminary accounting of course. The real numbers will be adjusted as either more people turn up with bullets in them, or Denis Walsh finds a new pencil with a fresh eraser:
  • Two people were shot to death, another man is in critical condition with a head wound and at least seven other people were wounded in Friday night shootings.
The Sun Times has provided a new feature for keeping track of shootings:
We don't know about you, but this is going to be amazingly helpful in deciding  how to plan our weekend family outings and avoid traffic tie-ups and brass/lead debris in the roadways - we certainly hope they make an app out of it for our smart phone.

May as well add 2 more to that total. Two shot in 012 around 0330. One in critical at Stroeger. This city is a joke.

No, no, wait! At least TWELVE shot, and it's still the pre-dawn hours.

Shootings leave 2 dead, 10 wounded across city

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-two-shot-in-west-woodlawn-20140411,0,1772943.story

...and something else here in the sidebar. "Avalon Park - First In Violent Crime!"

Have some of those banners made up to hang from the street lights! Instills a sense of community pride, as do projects like the upcoming "Cook County Morgue Expansion -- Phase 3."

Totentanz -- the Square Dance Of Death! The fiddles squeal and the skull-faced man in the straw hat and string tie claps time as he calls the steps. "Shoot your partner, do-si-do! Motherf--ers, hands on the wall! Take a hit a gin and balance all!"

Faster and faster they whirl, jump, fall down...

The crowd shrieks, moans, curses, throws bottles, grins, and makes hand signs for the cameras...while someone else runs off right quick with a car battery...

SCC, I don't know if you have read the article yet about the Tingling murder in 024. Reporters questioned why it was classified as an Agg Batt after the vct dies of a heart attack induced by a beating. News Affairs Adam Collins responded that death by heart attack is not in the UCR for murder so it stays an Agg Batt although the ofnd was charged with murder. Is this the new way to kill crime?

OT:

Emanuel plans for pension funding slip out... by an unnamed source of course:

"The city's funding requirements of employee pension funds will be met, by any legal revenue means."

When asked what that meant, the response was "it means the city can use any legal stream of revenue or savings to pay the required share according to current laws"

When asked what that meant, the response was "we can expect to see the city's share to be paid on time in the correct amount, based on city savings in the coming years".

When asked what savings the city was expecting the response was "the city will be moving all employees and annuitants into the Federal healthcare program, and as such, the city will realize tremendous savings while at the same time providing it's employees and annuitants with a quality affordable healthcare program"

********

OK, that spells out what's about to happen kids. Your contracts are being settled as soon as possible that all include the "national healthcare" clause in them, some of them containing "pension legislation re-openers. What was once a fight is now a conciliation to employees, or what appears to be conciliation. What's happened is that Emanuel has got employees thinking 2% raises are a gift and that the contracts being left largely the same is a gift to employees who should take it and run.

What you're not seeing is the fine print..... the healthcare legislation you're going to be asked to ignore in accepting your next contract.

What is happening to all contracts with city employees is that the appearance of bargaining is showing up, with what appears to be a "win" for all employees so that they all sign the contract.

What's being ignored is the additional healthcare clauses being put into those contracts that no one pays attention to. By agreeing to arbitration regarding healthcare, you're are legally giving up your right to sue for the healthcare you receive now as compensation and when you become an annuitant.

This is also being played on the larger pension scale, as those employees agreeing to arbitration in lieu of a lawsuit against pension legislation.

Any employee agreeing to arbitration for adverse healthcare and pension legislation is giving up their right to file suit against that legislation.

THAT is the savings that will pay for the city share of your pensions. The "savings" they will obtain once all contracts are signed and you all are put into Obamacare at the "silver" level, which will be touted as the subsidized level that helps you afford your insurance.

Your premiums will go up drastically, your out of pocket will triple as will your deductibles. But the city will be able to claim you have healthcare, and that you opted out of the right to sue against it.

Healthcare savings is how Emanuel intends to pay for the city share of your pension, YOU will be paying for it.

And it doesn't end there.... the city will still pass legislation to further erode your benefits in retirement and thus, make out even better in the cash flow department.

You've heard how it's going to be done..... and you're all signing onto his plan and you don't even know it.

The killed and maimed are the ones we are depending on to remake and revitalize Chicago and make it the foremost city in the nation.

Scc I think you should bring to light the tribune article about hiding homicides. The one particular item that really got me thinking was the homicide in 024. It was all over the news the retired belizian boxer punched in the. Best and them died. The shit head offender was charged with homicide and hate crime. However the 'homicide' has not been classified by the department as an official homicide. If you look at 024s homicide stats this is not included in their 2 homicides. Things that make you to hmmmm.

I looked at that map and I was shocked and saddened beyond belief! How can that be? All those shootings were in black neighborhoods! Is that possible? Is the Sun-Times that insensitive and racist as to suggest that is is only black people who are shooting each other during the period in question? They need more police if that's the case, many thousands more police.

Does Rahm know? Does Garry know? For the love of God, where is the humanity?

crime IS down, guys, c'mon. comparing stats from last week and a 3 day period from the exact same moon cycle that occured in 1956, there is a 49% reduction in violent crime, especially involving left-handed shooters, this past week compared to the same period in 56. this can only be attributed to the uncanny, superhero-like, crime fighting skills of our superintendant and the genius-like instincts of our mayor for choosing him for the job.

Oak Park/025/OP/025/OP/025, back and forth across North Av. and probably still circlin out there.

Talk about covering ground. Never seen the same mfs so many times in just a couple hours...
